The WBC super lightweight title fight between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia has been officially confirmed for April 20, after months of speculation.
On Friday, reports emerged that Haney will put his title on the line against Garcia in his first professional match, in a blockbuster fight in Las Vegas.
Shortly after the reports came to light, both fighters took to social media to seemingly confirm the official fight date.
Garcia, whose last performance saw him defeat Oscar Duarte in December, posted a series of photos on X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce the fight.
He wrote: “April 20 – Game 7 – Back In Blood.” One of the images brought to light the fact that Garcia and Haney have a 3-3 amateur record against each other, suggesting that their meeting in two months will be ‘Game 7.’

Haney (31-0, 15 KO) will defend his WBC super lightweight title for the first time since dethroning Regis Prograis in December when he faces Garcia in the ring in late April.
Haney swept Prograis, 120-107, on all three scorecards, including a 10-8 round courtesy of a knockdown in the third.
“I came in here and hit him with a big right hand,” Haney said at the time. “I took advantage of his tendency to lean.”
Talks have been on and off since December, but appeared to have ended when Garcia attempted to pick a fight with Rolando Romero, before Romero decided to fight Isaac Cruz.
A showdown in April marks a significant moment in both fighters’ careers as they prepare to meet for the first time in a professional environment.
Haney secured victory over Regis Prograis in early December to retain his WBC title.
Meanwhile, García won by knockout in his last outing in the ring against Óscar Duarte.
Haney and Garcia fought six times in the amateur arena and both shared three wins each before turning pro and embarking on a title chase.
The reunion will end bad blood between the couple after they previously clashed on social media in early January.
Haney has an undefeated record of 31 wins with 15 by knockout, but faces one of his toughest tests yet in Garcia.
Meanwhile, the challenger has only lost once in his professional career after being knocked out by Gervonta Davis last year.
