Eight people were rushed to hospital after the 2.5 meter high balcony of a house where a group was supposedly having lunch collapsed.
A photo from the scene shows the large sunken balcony at the front of the house on O’Donohue Road, in the town of Anglesea, on Victoria’s southern Surf Coast.
A dog was also reported to have been injured after the balcony floor gave way at around 2pm on Saturday.
Three men, three women and two teenagers were taken to Geelong Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
They remain in stable condition.
A building inspector will assess the structure of the building and the SES has cordoned off the area.
An SES spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia the wooden structure fell on three people.
“SES, along with ambulance crews and the CFA helped remove people trapped below,” the spokeswoman said.
