- Accused assassin Tuhirangi-Thomas Tahiata has not pleaded guilty
A man accused of killing two drug dealers, who were forced into a toolbox and dumped into a creek, says the decomposing bodies began to float days later.
Cory Breton and Iuliana Triscaru were found on 11 February 2016 in a large metal box in Scrubby Creek, south of Brisbane.
Tuhirangi-Thomas Tahiata, 28, pleaded not guilty of killing the couple after being lured to a Kingston mansion 18 days earlier and attacked by a group of men.
A man accused of killing two drug dealers who were forced into a toolbox and dumped into a creek said the decomposing bodies began to float days later
But in a police interview that was played Thursday during his trial at the Brisbane Supreme Court, Tahiata admitted that he was at the creek when the toolbox was pushed into the water.
He claims, however, that a man named Trent Thrupp has pushed it into the water.
He also told detectives that he returned to the scene after he saw the toolbox floating in the creek on the Logan Motorway.
“Trent swam out … stood on top of it, and then I and (Tepuna Mariri) just threw him against the rocks … to hold it,” he said.
Tahiata saw the green pond turn brown after the toolbox was dumped.
“Probably the decomposition … all bacteria and stomach acids, everything,” he said.
“It smelled. I smelled it in my car.
“When I got home, I just sprayed two cans of deodorant and just sprayed.”
Tahiata said earlier that his girlfriend noticed that he was acting “weird” when he got home after the toolbox with Mr. Breton and Mrs. Triscaru was initially pushed into the creek.
“She’s like,” honey, what’s wrong, honey, what’s wrong, “and I was like” oh, nothing, honey. ” I really wanted to tell her, “he said.
“This is the first thing I’ve ever hidden from her.
“I couldn’t tell her. She is the only person in the world that I wanted to tell. “
The process continues.
