Lip filler is about to disappear.

According to surveys of American plastic surgeons, the past three years have seen a significant increase in filler removal and a 14 percent decrease in requests for this procedure.

Instead, clients are opting for a more natural look, seeking treatments such as the ‘lip flip’, where a small amount of Botox is injected over the upper lip, making it ‘flip’ outward, appearing fuller.

But New York City-based dermatologist Dr. Charles Puza took to TikTok to share the best discreet lip plumping treatment.

Dr. Charles Puza has revealed his best tip for achieving “natural” lip volume.

The Harvard-educated skin expert told his 1.7 million followers that certain types of lip balms are “clinically proven” to add volume to lips.

In a clip posted on his channel, Dr. Puza can be seen sitting in his car looking indifferent. The caption reads: “When I tell my patients that using lip balm with hyaluronic acid and peptides 3 times a day is clinically proven to plump the lips (aka non-filler).”

A leading dermatologist has suggested that using two key ingredients daily on the lips for several weeks can have a plumping effect.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the eyes and joints. It acts as a cushion and lubricant, and is an effective moisturizer.

It is also the main ingredient in dermal fillers that are injected into the face to add volume.

Peptides are chains of amino acids, which are the “building blocks” of proteins. However, peptides contain a smaller amount of amino acids compared to proteins.

Studies have shown that peptides play a role in the production of elastin and collagen; Skin proteins that give it elasticity.

In addition to his clip, Dr. Puza provided a list of recommended brands including: Clinique, Tatcha, and Cetaphil.

The TikTokers commenting on the post seem to agree.

‘Paula’s Choice has a good one. “My nail technician asked me if I had any fillers,” one woman wrote, while another added, “I’ve been doing this and OMG it works too well.”

‘I’ve been using hyaluronic acid on my lips every day…the results are like a filler. This is true.’

Several commenters said they’ve seen plump results with Paula’s Choice Lip Enhancer, $33, which contains hyaluronic acid and peptides.

Hyaluronic acid has long been a star product for improving lip volume naturally.

Last year, another dermatologist popular on tiktok suggested combining a hyaluronic acid treatment with Vaseline, stating that a “scientific study” showed the combination can plump lips.
