A man has died after being beaten by an ‘out of control’ dog who was then shot dead by armed police.
The man died after suffering ‘serious injuries’ when he was attacked by the dog at a house in Normanton, Derby, yesterday.
Firearms officers had to shoot the dog after being called to the address to report that a man had been seriously injured by a dog.
A man arrested in connection with the attack remains in custody, Derbyshire Police said.
Police also asked anyone with information to contact them using reference 215-220423
The man died after suffering ‘serious injuries’ after being attacked by the dog at a house in Normanton, Derby, yesterday.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said last night: ‘We can now confirm that the man injured in the incident at Cameron Road, Derby, died at the scene. His family has been notified and our thoughts are with them at this time
“The man arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody and there is still a scene at a house in Cameron Road. There will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues and officers are eager to speak to anyone who may have information.
“Anyone who can help with the investigation is asked to contact the police on number 215-220423.”
