Three months after Tyler Badie collapsed on the sideline during the Denver Broncos’ game against the New York Jets, the star running back has been cleared to return to practice.
Badie’s first practice since suffering a heartbreaking medical episode at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 29 was Tuesday afternoon.
The former Missouri star’s return to practice begins the 21-day window to return to game action.
That three-week window would cover Denver’s final two regular-season games and a wild-card matchup, which the Broncos are on the verge of clinching.
Badie suffered the injury late in the first quarter after falling awkwardly to the grass.
After going to the bench, Badie collapsed, and medical personnel treated him and placed him in a stabilizer to transport him off the field.
Tyler Badie returned to the football field for the first time in three months Tuesday afternoon.
Badie suffered a back and spinal injury on September 29 that has kept him out of action since
Not much has been heard about Badie’s condition since then, and his return in the same season was designated from a spinal and back injury as a minor miracle.
Badie could return to the Broncos lineup as early as Saturday when they play the Bengals.
Tyler Badie scored his first NFL touchdown at the end of last season and was thought to fill a need for the team entering this year.
Those hopes had been put on hold since the injury. Now, facing a wild card road game in which Denver will be the underdog, likely against Buffalo or Pittsburgh, Badie’s return is needed more than ever.
If the Broncos win one of their final two games, they would be destined for the playoffs.
