Democrats say investigation into Biden’s questionable business deals a ‘complete failure’ as they escalate war with Republicans demanding his impeachment over Hunter business ties
- “Speaker Comer’s investigation has conclusively refuted Republican allegations against President Biden,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin.
- Raskin says the evidence collected is a ‘total failure – an epic failure in the history of congressional investigations’ intended to distract from Trump’s legal problems
- House Republicans consider formal impeachment inquiry against president
House Republicans return from August recess ready to go after President Biden over his family’s foreign business deals — but House Democrats say investigation is a ‘total failure’ and focus on Hunter rather than Joe in a new note.
“President Comer’s investigation has definitively refuted Republican allegations against President Biden,” said Supreme Supervisory Committee Democrat Jamie Raskin, Md., in the new memo.
“The voluminous evidence they have collected, including thousands of pages of bank statements, suspicious activity reports, and hours of testimony, overwhelmingly demonstrates no wrongdoing by President Biden and further debunks Republican conspiracy theories,” the memo added.
Raskin says the evidence collected constitutes a “total failure – an epic failure in the history of congressional investigations” that aims to distract from Donald Trump’s growing legal problems.
“Chairman Comer’s investigation has conclusively refuted the Republican allegations against President Biden,” Democrat Jamie Raskin, Md., a senior official on the Oversight Committee, said in the new memo.

President James Comer sought to tie President Biden to his son’s foreign business dealings.
President Kevin McCarthy could open a formal impeachment inquiry as early as this month, he warned earlier in August — a threat Raskin pushed back against in the memo.
An impeachment inquiry depends on whether Republicans are satisfied with the level of cooperation the Biden administration has shown in providing the evidence requested by the committee.
Raskin claimed the agencies cooperated extensively — but the evidence simply doesn’t implicate the president.
Comer “has no shortage of evidence – he has substantial evidence, but it shows no wrongdoing by the president and undermines the GOP’s false claims,” he said. “The Biden-Harris administration has gone out of its way to accommodate Republicans’ often ridiculous and transparent policy demands.”
Republicans have uncovered ample evidence that Hunter Biden and other members of the Biden family received millions from foreign oligarchs while Joe was vice president, but have yet to directly tie such payments to him.
The memo warned Republicans against launching an impeachment inquiry without more concrete evidence.
“If House Republicans vote to open an impeachment inquiry in the absence of any evidence of wrongdoing, let alone the constitutionally required ‘high crimes and misdemeanors,’ they will make it easier once again the efforts of former President Trump… to return to power and avoid accountability for its pervasive crimes and corruption.

Republicans have uncovered ample evidence that Hunter Biden and other members of the Biden family received millions from foreign oligarchs while Joe was vice president, but have yet to directly tie such payments to him.
Hunter Biden’s former business partner, Devon Archer, revealed to the committee last month that Joe Biden had been in contact either by phone or in person with Hunter’s associates 20 times over the course of 10 years – although Archer did not state that the president was talking directly about business.
Archer testified that Hunter was selling the “Biden brand” to his associates, and that hearing the vice president’s voice on speed dial was enough to convince them to fork over money. Emails and testimony revealed that Joe Biden actually attended a dinner with Hunter, Archer and foreign oligarchs who paid his son twice at Café Milano in Washington, DC.
“This is a transparent effort to bolster Donald Trump’s campaign by establishing a false moral equivalence between Trump,” the memo said, “the four-times-indicted former president who now faces 91 federal criminal charges and states, based on a mountain of damning evidence for a shocking range of crimes, including lying to the FBI, endangering national security by illegally retaining classified documents, and conspiring to overthrow the US Constitution – and President Biden, against whom there is precisely no evidence of any wrongdoing.
