The Pennsylvania senator secured $400,000 in taxpayer funds for the Mazzoni center in the fiscal year 2024 spending package.
The nonprofit also hosts the annual Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference, which has hosted panels on ‘Bigger D*** Energy: Life After Masculinizing,’ ‘The Pros and Outs of Masturbation Sleeves,’ and ‘The Adolescent Pathway: Preparing Young People for Gender’. -Asserting Beware.’
“Today, Senator Bob Casey announced with the leadership of the Mazzoni Center a Congressional allocation of $400,000 for building improvements, including a generator to protect vaccines and refrigerated pharmaceuticals,” the group posted on social media Thursday.

The center is known to provide puberty blockers and hormone therapy to patients, including children.
It also offers HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI) testing, counseling and health education.
In addition to providing treatment at the center, the group also connects patients with surgeons who can perform sex reassignment procedures. In Pennsylvania, these surgeries on minors are legal.
The annual Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference hosted by the group has generated controversy in the past and in 2017 canceled an event about detransitioning.

In March, Casey withdrew his request for a $1 million allocation to another Pennsylvania-based LGBT group, the William Way LGBT Community Center, over its controversial ties to kink parties and BDSM.
