As he and his loved ones deal with his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis, Bruce Willis turned 68 with a party at his house on Sunday. And Demi Moore, Willis’ ex-wife, shared a video of the festivities on Instagram.
In the clip, Moore, and other family members, including Willis’s children and his wife, Emma Heming, serenade him with “Happy Birthday,” much to his apparent delight. And after the “Die Hard” star blows out his birthday candles, his family cheers him on with a round of hip-hip-hooray.
“Happy birthday, BW!” Moore, who was married to Willis from 1987 to 2000, wrote in the caption of her Instagram photo. “I’m glad I was able to celebrate you today. I love you and I love our family. Thank you all for the love and warm wishes, we all feel it.”
Earlier on Sunday, Emma wrote on Instagram that it was “one of those days of feeling pain and sadness” but thanked fans for the “warmth and love” they have sent to the Willis family. “I see your messages, your stories that you share, and all I can say is thank you.”
The birthday celebration came just over a month after Willis’s family shared his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis, and nearly a year after Willis had to give up his acting career.
“Unfortunately, the challenges with communication are just one symptom of the illness Bruce is facing,” the Willis family said in a statement in February. “While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
sunday emma posted a montage of Willis’ family moments On Instagram. “He is pure love,” wrote the model, who married the actor in 2009, in her caption. “He is so loved. And I will always love him. Happy birthday my sweet. My birthday wish for Bruce is that you continue to keep him in your prayers and on the highest vibrations because his sensitive Pisces soul will feel it. Thank you so much for loving and caring for him too.”
