Demi Moore has spoken out about how hard she used to be on herself.
The GI Jane actress, 61, opened up about her self-hatred while discussing her latest role as Elizabeth Sparkle in body horror film The Substance.
The actress said The Guardian of Saturday That in the 1990s women were not considered attractive unless they were thin.
Referring to the decades of dieting and exercising she underwent in Hollywood, Demi said she was sad about what she did to herself.
“I said it with bad intentions. I focused on violence, on how violent we can be with ourselves, on how brutal we can be,” he said.
Demi said: ‘Self-judgment, the pursuit of perfection, trying to get rid of ‘flaws’, also feeling rejected and hopeless – none of this is exclusive to women,’ as she noted that men also experience body insecurity.

“We’ve all had moments where we go back and try to fix something,” he said.
He added: “You are simply making things worse to the point of becoming incapacitated.”
‘We’re seeing these little things that no one else is seeing, but we’re so hyper-focused on all that that we’re missing it.
‘All of us, if we start thinking that our value is only in our appearance, we will eventually be crushed.’
She added that she is surprised at how “cruel” humans can be to themselves when it comes to their bodies.
Demi told The Guardian that the nightmarish plot resonated with her because it showed the “circumstances of a woman in the entertainment industry facing rejection and deep despair” as “everything that seemed meaningful in her life is being ripped away.”
She added on how this led her to reflect on people’s cruelty towards themselves when it comes to their bodies: ‘What really struck me was the harsh violence against oneself.
“It’s not what they do to you, it’s what we do to ourselves.”

Demi added that there is a “depth to exploring our psyche” and “our internal dialogue” that the body horror genre “seems to amplify.”
She also said that He’s spent years putting more ‘focus’ on his work than on romance.
The actress has been divorced three times (her exes include Ashton Kutcher, 46, and Bruce Willis, 69) and has now said she’s been obsessed with her career rather than men since about 2019.
She told The Guardian: “Dating is not really my priority. Particularly in the last four or five years, my focus has been on devoting myself to my work.
‘I’m in a place where choice is more important than the feeling that there is some kind of lack.’
In her new film The Substance, Moore plays a 50-year-old woman who takes a drug to look younger.
Demi’s new film, ‘The Substance’, sees her starring as a failed fitness guru who takes an experimental drug that leads to her ‘giving birth’ to a younger, more perfect version of herself, played by 29-year-old ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’ actress Margaret Qualley.
Her dating admission comes after Demi said she “cherishes” the time she spends with Bruce Willis as he continues to battle dementia.
Demi was married to the “Die Hard” star – with whom she shares children Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30 – from 1987 to 2000, and is now in regular contact with her ex amid his health battle.
She said on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ about the advice she gives her children when it comes to communicating with their ailing father: ‘What I tell my kids is to meet[people]where they are.

‘You don’t hold on to who they were or what you want them to be, but to who they are right now.
“And from there comes so much beauty, so much joy, so much love and so much sweetness.
“When I’m in Los Angeles, I go to Bruce’s house every week and I really appreciate the time we share.”
In 2022, Bruce’s family, which includes his current wife Emma Heming Willis, 46, and children Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, nine, announced that he was retiring from acting after he was diagnosed with aphasia, a speech and language disorder, and his dementia diagnosis was confirmed the following year.
