Demi Jones has been reflecting on her Love Island series with the highest couples success rate – but says she’s in ‘hot girl summer mode’ after divorcing Luke Mabbott.
The 22-year-old reality star, who rose to fame on Love Island in 2020, admitted she is ‘surprised’ that so many of her fellow islanders are still in a relationship and believes lockdown has prompted them to stay together.
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Demi explained that she and her castmates never felt the ‘real effect’ of Love Island after the UK was hit by the pandemic and they were ‘trapped inside’ shortly after their series aired.
‘I’m Excited’: Demi Jones has been thinking about her Love Island series with the highest couples success rate, but says she’s in ‘hot girl summer mode’ after divorcing Luke Mabbott
Demi, who looks glamorous in a new shoot for the launch of her collection with Missguided, said, ‘Honestly, I’m surprised. I am very surprised. The lockdown has prompted people to stick together because they had to live together and have gone from one extreme to the other.
‘I am so happy that they are still together and still thriving, it is really beautiful to see. It has been the most successful relationship series ever.
‘Because of the pandemic, we didn’t feel the real effect of Love Island – we came home and were trapped inside.
Now that things are reopening and people are asking for pictures, it reminds you it’s such a big TV show. It protected us a lot from the fame, but in a way it was a blessing and I feel like I have gotten stronger and stronger in terms of my career.
However, I don’t feel like I’m famous. When people call me a celebrity, I think ‘what?’ I do not believe it. But then I look at other islanders and classify them like that, so it’s kind of weird. ‘

Paige Turley, 23, and Finley Tapp, 21, are still going strong a year after winning the ITV2 show, as are number two Siânnise Fudge, 26, and Luke Trotman, 23.
Callum Jones, 25, and girlfriend Molly Smith, 27, are also still in love, as are Mike Boateng, 29, and Priscilla Anyabu, 25, who all met on the series filmed in South Africa.
Demi ended her romance with Luke, 25, after three months, but says she’s not bothered by her ex, who has since moved on with 2019 star Lucie Donlan, 23.
She said: ‘I wish them all the best and I have moved completely. I’m just excited to meet someone for myself right now. I put all my attention on that.

‘I’m absolutely single at the moment but I’m so excited to meet people authentically and go out and socialize and hopefully can’t wait to meet people in the same industry and other celebrities and hopefully find someone to go out with to go on a nice date.
‘I’m definitely in fun, hot girl summer mode. Everyone’s locked up, had their relationships, and they’re at ease after lockdown … but I’m excited to go out and meet people. ‘
Last month, Demi posted a video in tears to her 1.1 million Instagram followers, explaining that a lump on her neck could be cancer.
Now, weeks later, Demi is recovering from surgery after the lump was removed, revealing that she has received more messages from those thanking her for raising awareness than she did after leaving Love Island, including from celebrities.
‘I have gone all the way’: Demi ended her romance with fellow islander Luke after three months, but says she has no hard feelings towards her ex, who is now with Lucie Donlan
She said, ‘I had surgery last week, so I am literally bedridden. Today I put on makeup and I feel a lot better.
‘I wanted to share my experience for two reasons, first of all for my own mental health – if I went through all of this and no one knew what was going on and I tried to keep track of my social contacts as if nothing was going on, then that would have been detrimental to my own mental health and it has also increased so much awareness.
‘I got more messages on Thursday when I had surgery than when I came from Love Island. When I passed by I read through all my messages, honestly it made me cry because so many people had messaged that if I hadn’t been there they wouldn’t have made the appointment with their doctor. I was so emotional.
‘So many young girls came to me saying they found lumps and they didn’t know what to do, and I even let other celebrities know they found lumps and they are nervous.
‘I really hope it makes people aware of checking their lumps regardless of age and making appointments because unfortunately you have to do that because the pandemic and the NHS are under pressure.
Demi confirmed that she is awaiting the results and hopes it will be good news, otherwise she will have to undergo a complete thyroidectomy, which is surgery in which all or part of the thyroid gland is removed when a patient has thyroid cancer.
She said, ‘I’m a bit in the dark right now because I have to wait two weeks for my results and if it’s cancer, unfortunately I have to go through the whole procedure again, so I have to have a full thyroidectomy. but if it isn’t and it’s all okay, I can just get on with my life eventually. ‘
Demi has teamed up with Missguided on The Havana Edit, which will be on sale May 11 and in sizes 4-26.

The influencer admitted it was “ surreal ” to the campaign after growing up with Missguided and working in retail before reaching fame on Love Island.
She said, “I am so excited to announce my partnership with Missguided. I bought Missguided and have been obsessed with Missguided since I was a young girl so it has always been in my wardrobe.
‘It feels so unreal. It feels like a dream come true to actually have my own edit with them. I’m so excited and can’t wait to get out and wear it now, now that lockdown is lifted and hopefully other people will wear it and feel good about themselves too.
“If you’d told me half a year ago when I worked in retail before Love Island even happened that I was going to have my own edit with Missguided, I never would have believed you. It is an absolute dream come true. ‘
