A female passenger on a recent Delta Airlines flight stunned her fellow travelers and cabin crew when she reportedly breastfed her cat and refused to stop.

The bizarre incident is said to have taken place on Delta Flight 1360 from Syracuse, New York, to Atlanta, Georgia.

The story of the apparently unhinged cat lover became widely known after a screenshot went viral on social media, showing a message sent by a Delta crew member to their colleagues on the ground in Atlanta calling for help.

According to the message, which was sent via the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) and was first reported by news week, a passenger in seat 13A ‘is breastfeeding a cat and will not put the cat back in the carrier when [flight attendant] requested.’

The Delta employee who sent the message during the two-hour flight requested that Delta’s Red Coat team meet with the unwilling owner of the pet upon landing on the ground.

The airline’s website describes its ‘Red Coats’ as ‘elite airport customer service experts, recognizable by their bright red coats. They are specially trained to solve customer problems on-the-stop.’

DailyMail.com contacted Delta on Thursday to request comment on the incident and is awaiting a response.

It’s unclear what happened to the “cat mom” after the plane landed in Atlanta, but flight attendant Ainsley Elizabeth claimed in a Nov. 2 TikTok video that security needed to get involved.

In a follow-up video posted on Nov. 13, Elizabeth provided more shocking details about what allegedly happened on the plane.

“This woman had such a hairless cat wrapped in a blanket to make it look like a baby,” the flight attendant said. “Her shirt was up and she tried to get the cat to latch on, but she wouldn’t put the cat back in the carrier. And the cat screamed for its life.’

According to the airline’s website, Delta “fully supports a woman’s right to breastfeed onboard Delta and Delta liaison aircraft and at Delta facilities.”

the airline’s pro-lactation policy is unlikely to extend to human passengers who nurse animals.

The airline allows small dogs, cats and domestic birds to travel in the cabin for a fee, but they must be kept in a carrier that fits under the seat.
