‘Frankly, I wanted to start the spirit, I heard that’s what everyone was doing. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that in my career I would start having panties and bras, but we had so much fun! It was incredible.’

Joking that he had now inherited the practice, he joked: ‘The torch has been passed! It’s gone!

After the show, Delta shared a video on Instagram showing a very enthusiastic fan throwing a bra at her on stage while joking that she hoped it wouldn’t be her last.

Laughing at the antics, she said: ‘I’ve got a bra, I’ve got some panties, fantastic! This is my lucky day, I’ve never had a bra thrown at me at one of my concerts.’

Delta was seen swinging the underwear in the air and wearing it as a prop while performing The Pointer Sisters’ hit, I’m So Excited.

In one caption, she joked: “You think you’ve done a lot in a couple of decades performing live and then your first bra is thrown on stage and a new standard is unlocked.”

Elsewhere on Sunrise, Delta also reflected on her split from her manager of 11 years and spoke about how she feels “inspired” after the big change.

Speaking about the change, Delta said: “There are always seasons in your life and different chapters.

‘I am very grateful to have had wonderful chapters, we really celebrated our time together, both of us, and we continue as friends.

‘Right now I’m going through a new season and a new era. I feel really inspired and creative and enjoying the moment as always. Getting to do great performances with great people. That’s all.’

In a joint statement, they confirmed earlier this month: ‘It is with shared pride, admiration and dedication that we have worked together, achieving so many goals, milestones and professional successes.

‘After 11 incredible years we close this management chapter and move forward with love, respect and friendship.’

Delta added to The Sunday Telegraph: “There is a freedom in the music world today that I really enjoy. It’s an exciting time to be able to collaborate and think outside the box. I’m really enjoying it all.” the variety of this season of my life.’
