A Delta passenger has revealed how he was reprimanded after asking a colleague to shut up.

The frequent traveler took to Reddit to detail the shocking situation in which he begged a woman to turn down the volume on her “loud” phone call.

In a thread titled DeltaHe explained that while sitting at the Salt Lake City Sky Club Lounge, Utah, he asked the woman to wear headphones because she was disturbing others in the suite.

He explained that the woman was talking on the phone with what appeared to be a small child.

After listening to enough of the phone call, the man stood up and begged the woman to end the exchange through her headphones.

However, his request was met with surprise as the woman gave him a series of sarcastic glances.

He was surprised that someone asked him to shut up and later called the man “incredibly rude.”

The exasperated man asked people on the web for advice as he wondered if he was out of line.

The post was titled: “Today I asked a woman to wear headphones.”

He explained: ‘Currently at the SLC Sky Club. A woman was talking on the phone with what appeared to be a small child. This is a pretty big club, but we could still all hear the kid, and I was sitting about 30 feet away.

‘Since I read comments all the time where people say to approach the person, I did. I walked up to her and said, “Excuse me, would you mind wearing headphones? That’s louder than you think and we can all hear it.”

“She seemed surprised and then told me that she thought it was incredibly rude of me to say that. I just shrugged and walked away.

‘But he turned down the volume or used headphones because we can’t hear anymore! Success, I think? Was I rude?
