Ella posted a photo of herself and her eldest daughter in a park and wrote in full: ‘Two years ago today I became a mom. Skye burst into the world in the most characteristic way, beautifully unexpected and a little dramatic with the breaking of my waters for the wedding of one of my oldest friends.

“The seven years before she was born gloriously, ella was really my whole life. Matthew, our CEO, and my husband, and I, worked side by side all day every day, pouring our heart and soul into the company.

“Since Skye was born, and even more so since May May arrived, I’ve been trying to combine life as a founder and my passion with making a real impact on our collective health, in addition to being the most dedicated and current mom I can be.”

The devoted mother continued, “It’s certainly a challenging balance to find and not something I’ve felt on so many occasions that I’m right, something I’m sure so many parents can relate to.”

“I’ve found myself pulling back a bit to share more personal details here. Motherhood has definitely increased a sense of vulnerability and that has permeated into more fear of criticism than I did before.”

Ella concluded: ‘I started breaking through these feelings in the past few weeks, after a bout of covid at home (for everyone but me) and a trip to the hospital for Matthew for pneumonia.

“Two babies and a pandemic in two years has certainly exhausted me, but I’m so excited to find my spark again and forge my identity as a mom, founder, wife and friend.” [sic]

Ella is the daughter of former Labor Secretary Shaun Woodward and supermarket heiress Camilla Sainsbury, while husband Matthew is the son of Baroness Tessa Jowell.

Speaking with the Sunday Telegraph last year Ella looked back on her rapid growth.

“I wasn’t ready for how fast Deliciously Ella grew. People look to you for the answers that you are still inventing on your own.

“I was terrified, really. I found it really terrifying, and I was almost too scared to have an opinion, because you can’t make everyone happy.”
