Dele Alli should leave Tottenham and be a ‘different player’ at Manchester City, says ex-Premier League boss Neil Warnock.

The playmaker has fallen out of favor with Spurs under three different managers, with Antonio Conte the latter unable to rejuvenate the 25-year-old’s career after being consistently dropped by Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.

The England midfielder – a star at the 2018 World Cup – has thus been linked with a move to Newcastle this month and ex-Middlesbrough, Cardiff and Sheffield Utd boss Warnock insists Alli must leave the north London club.

“He has to go,” Warnock said talkSPORT.

“But I’ll be honest with you, if you look at Dele Alli, you would see a different player if you put him in the Manchester City team.

“You have to have a decent backline to start with. Tottenham haven’t had a decent rear guard in ages.

“He’s straying into a number 10 role and he’s as good as he was when he was. But they don’t get that ball, they have to fight for everything to get in.

“Because they are not good enough in the back, that opens up all positions. That’s why he must go.

“He’ll find a good player somewhere when it’s his turn, but he’s just gone backwards.”

Roy Keane suggested on Sunday that Alli should leave Tottenham to relaunch his career, even adding that Newcastle should be the club to sign him.
