Dejan Kulusevski has told his Tottenham team-mates that they must “learn” from the weekend’s 6-3 thrashing of Liverpool if they are to challenge for top honours.
Spurs’ ugly inconsistencies surfaced again when Liverpool traveled to the capital just days after Ange Postecoglou’s side knocked Man United out of the Carabao Cup.
Kulusevski scored for the fifth straight game in Sunday’s loss, but was left furious that his contribution counted for nothing amid another defensive collapse.
Postecoglou was left without a core group of his defense during the thrashing with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie sidelined by injury, but the Australian refused to change his typical attacking approach.
The Spurs head coach stated after the defeat that his future at the club is “for others to judge” and Kulusevski appealed to his colleagues after the match.
The Sweden international has shined under Postecoglou since joining the club two years ago and has scored 22 goals in 122 appearances since making the switch.

Spurs’ ugly inconsistencies surfaced again in weekend’s Premier League defeat
Analyzing Tottenham’s recent problems, Kulusevski said: “We have to improve, we have to find a way.”
“Maybe today we should let them have the ball more, but you know, that’s not how we play.” So we went out, we gave it our all. It didn’t work, maybe we’ll learn for next time.
‘We have to think about how we are physically? Who is playing? How many games have we played in the last week? Who do we play? Have they rested for a week or so? he added.
‘You have to put everything in because it’s like life. It’s not just black and white. There are many factors that influence this.
‘We have to learn because we conceded six goals. I can’t sit here and say we’re doing something perfectly, we’re not. We have to change a little to improve, always try to change for the better,” said Kulusevski.
Liverpool’s dominant victory leaves Spurs 11th in the Premier League standings and already eight points off the Champions League places heading into Boxing Day.
Tottenham travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest the day after Christmas and will need three points to move into the top half of the table.
