A man has been arrested after a body was found in the car park of an apartment building on Sydney’s northern beaches.

The discovery came after police were called to Ilikai Place, Dee Why, at 7.11am on Monday following a report from a member of the public.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command found the man, aged 40, dead at the scene.

Police have prepared a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

At 12.30pm today, a 37-year-old man was arrested following the discovery. He has been taken to Manly Police Station and is assisting with enquiries.

A neighbour of the deceased man told Daily Mail Australia that the housing complex was generally a quiet place to live.

“I didn’t hear or see anything, it’s usually a pretty quiet building,” said Kassan, a local resident.

“It’s very, very scary. I’ve lived in the building for eight months and I found out when the police arrived this morning.”
