Decathlon doubles its losses, but sales increase
Losses doubled at Decathlon as the retailer poured money into opening new stores and renovating others.
The sports store, which sells everything from cut-price sneakers and tents to £700 kayaks, posted a loss of £9.4m last year against £4.7m in 2021.
But turnover rose 6 per cent to more than £300m as customers returned in droves to its around 50 UK stores following Covid lockdowns.

The losses were partly due to “big investments” in new sites in Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Livingston in Scotland and York.
Decathlon’s French owner has 1,750 stores worldwide.
