Death in Paradise set for one-off Christmas special with 60-year-old Danny John-Jules, who plays Officer Dwayne Myers
Death in Paradise will hit theaters this year with the first-ever Christmas special.
The BBC program gives viewers a glimpse of the sun in the depths of winter as they visit the fictional Saint Marie Island through their television screens.
The 90-minute special marks the show’s 10th anniversary, with actor Danny John-Jules, 60, playing Officer Dwayne Myers, returning for the episode.

Danny said, “It’s always a pleasure to go back to the Caribbean.
“After being gone for four years, it should be seamless to fit back into the fold as I know the new protagonists.
“I’m looking forward to bringing Dwayne and this special tenth anniversary script to life.”

The special will also star Ralf Little, 41, while DI Neville Parker and Juliet Stevenson, 64, will make guest appearances, according to the Daily mirror.
Executive Producer Tim Key said: “We’ve been talking about a Christmas episode for years, so we’re really excited to finally make one and work with Danny again.
“We can’t think of a better place to spend Christmas than in Saint Marie.”

It was announced last month that Jamaican actress Shantol Jackson had joined the cast of BBC drama its 11th series.
The star, who played Yvonne in the 2018 Idris Elba-directed crime drama Yardie, was signed on to play ambitious young Sergeant Naomi Thomas.
Shantol, 28, said at the time: “I am so grateful for this great opportunity to be part of the cast of this fun, entertaining series.

“I watched Death In Paradise in Jamaica years ago with my dad when it was just starting and to be on the show now, knowing he will be watching me, it’s a really surreal moment.

Ralf recently revealed that he was separated from his fiancée while filming the most recent series Death In Paradise due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The actor is engaged to playwright Lindsey Ferrentino, 32, and told how the couple’s wedding has been delayed after she proposed to get married in Guadeloupe, where the show is being filmed.
Speaking on The One Show, he said, “Well, they are” [wedding plans] pretty much on hold. She couldn’t even come to the island this time.
That was an idea she had, ‘why don’t we get married here?’ I was like, ’cause I’m filming a TV show where I’m in every scene.”
