DeAndre Baker played Madden when ‘partygoers were robbed at gunpoint,’ his lawyer says

NFL star DeAndre Baker played the Madden video game when a fight broke out during a cookout in Florida and partygoers were robbed at gunpoint, his lawyer said.

New York Giants cornerback DeAndrea, along with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar, were the subject of an arrest warrant for Miramar police last week.

22-year-old Baker reportedly brandished a gun at several people at a party and ordered a masked attacker to bring their jewelry and cash.

He pleaded not guilty to four counts armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of serious assault. If convicted, Baker could be given 15 years for each of the armed robbery charges

Patrick Patel, one of Baker’s lawyers, told it New York Post that it is impossible for his client to perform such blatant acts because he was playing Madden at the time.

Far from a person going anywhere with an alleged intention of robbing someone, an armed robbery, to go there and plug their ‘Madden’ game, play the game for over an hour and leave it there and go home, “he said to Patel.

Patel and Bradford Cohen, another lawyer representing Baker, suggested that Baker has become a target due to his reputation and wealth as an NFL footballer.

Miramar police have released arrest warrants for DeAndre Baker (left) from the New York Giants and Quinton Dunbar (right) from the Seattle Seahawks

The arrest warrant alleged that Baker and Dunbar stole over $ 12,000 in cash and expensive designer watches. It also claims that Baker pointed a gun at someone and told a masked attacker to shoot a person who walked into the party.

Butt Patel said this is not true and expects the case against Baker to be brought to an end soon.

According to Patel, Baker arrived at the party with his Madden console, two extra consoles and a charger.

He reportedly connected the game to a big-screen TV and played video games for up to an hour and a half.

Baker left his game at home, Patel said, adding that he hopes to get electronic evidence that Baker signed up and played during the incident.

“And this ruckus blows into another room in this house,” said Patel.

“He has nothing to do with the ruckus. He didn’t even see it. All he sees is a table turned out of the corner of his eye and everyone runs, shouts and screams. And he’s out. Thank goodness he bounced. ‘

Patel revealed that he is in the process of obtaining video evidence that could invalidate the arrest warrant’s claim that Baker’s car had been ‘pre-placed’ for a smooth escape.

The video reportedly shows Baker in the passenger seat of his vehicle while a friend acted as his designated driver.

The car is said to have been waiting for several other cars before leaving the apartment complex.

Patel said the time stamp on which Baker’s vehicle left the gate could prove that it took at least two hours for someone at the party to call the authorities.

“You’ve been robbed by gunshot and you wait two hours to call the police?” Patel said.

“It is a pity that the child’s life is currently ruined and that he has to fight his way out of it. But it just gets worse and worse and worse, this whole story. It is disgusting. ”

Patel admitted that Baker gambled on the outcome of the Madden game, but did not lose $ 70,000 while gambling as previously speculated.

Instead, Baker would have played dice on the night in question.

Bank records show that Baker withdrew $ 1,500 in cash two days before the party, Patel said.

Patel: 'Unfortunately, [Baker's] the goalkeeper there. He is the scapegoat. He is the most famous, most successful person at the party '

“He absolutely, absolutely, 100 percent assured that he wasn’t gambling $ 70,000, not gambling at all with this group before or during this entire issue,” Patel told the New York Post.

And while Baker does have a permit to carry a weapon, he reportedly didn’t carry the cookout night with him.

They want to completely dramatize this thing by saying he had a gun with him, “said Patel.

“Unfortunately he is the goalkeeper there. He is the scapegoat. He is the most famous, most successful person at the party. So that’s the man you are going to finger, because we can get the most money from him if we charge him. ‘

In addition, Patel said that he obtained three affidavits from three witnesses who are “genuine citizens who have no interest in the game” and claim Baker is innocent.

NFL stars Deandre Baker and Quinton Dunbar are released from prison for $ 200k and $ 100k bail after surrendering themselves yesterday on charges of robbing Miami cookout revelers at gunpoint

NFL stars Deandre Baker and Quinton Dunbar were released from a Florida prison after a bond hearing on Sunday.

New York Giants cornerback Baker, 22, had received a warrant for his arrest last week on charges that he and Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar robbed Miami revelers at gunpoint on Wednesday night.

The two men appeared before Broward County Judge Michael Davis this morning, just 24 hours after they surrendered to Miramar Police on Saturday. Baker has been asked to stay away from the Giants for the time being while focusing on his legal issues, a source familiar with Giants’ thinking told the Daily Mail.

The state has not asked for bail for either defendant. However, Judge Davis set Baker’s bail at $ 200,000, or $ 25,000 for each of the four armed robbery charges and four heavy attacks count against him.

Dunbar, meanwhile, had a $ 100,000 – $ 25,000 bail on each of his four armed robbery charges.

Both men received standard pretrial release and are therefore not allowed to leave the state of Florida.

However, if they had to leave the state to work, the judge said his ruling could be changed at a later date.

Baker and Dunbar have also been instructed not to contact any of the alleged victims and must return firearms within 48 hours.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, Baker’s attorney Patrick G. Patel confirmed his client’s release and said he is confident that the subsequent investigation will prove Baker’s innocence.

“ We sincerely thank all law enforcement officers for their diligent efforts to reveal the truth in this and we sincerely apologize for the distraction this event has caused for Deandre’s team, teammates and NFL community during this difficult time in everyone’s life. said Patel.

On Thursday, warrants were issued for the arrest of Baker and Dunbar, 27, on four counts of firearms armed robbery, after several witnesses accused them of carrying out a ‘planned’ armed robbery at an early morning party.

Baker is also aggravated four times.

Baker’s attorney, Bradley Cohen, announced his client’s surrender, saying he had a “wealth of” evidence that released him early in an Instagram post.

“We will present to the judge the wealth of evidence we have obtained over the past 3 days at the appropriate time,” Cohen wrote.

“Seven affidavits that acquitted my client and video evidence.”

He also urged people not to rush [judgment]about the accusations.

“Police reports are just that, reports of what they have been told or said to them,” Cohen wrote.

“We use the court to then investigate those reports, investigate those claims, and give the defendant an opportunity to confront the evidence. Do not hurry [judgment]. ‘

Dunbar’s lawyer has also alleged that there are indications that his client has been acquitted.

Lawyer Michael Grieco told it The Seattle Times On Friday, he handed sworn statements by five witnesses to the Broward County attorney, who would clear the name of Dunbar.

Lawyer Michael Grieco on Dubar’s case: ‘. What I care about is that my client, who has never been in trouble in his life, is forced to surrender to an (explosive) case that no self-respecting prosecutor would ever file “

“The affidavits are the exact opposite of what they told the police two days ago,” said Grieco.

“Either they lied in their affidavits today or they lied to the police. They may lie again and tell the police that the first statement was correct. I do not care. What I care about is that my client, who has never been in trouble in his life, is forced to surrender to an (explosive) case that no self-respecting prosecutor would ever file. So if they know they would never file it, why would they continue to order? ‘

DailyMail.com has contacted Miramar police for comment.

Mirania police officer Tania Rues told the story The NY Post law enforcement hoped the suspects would report themselves.

“Obviously, we hope to simplify things they can deliver themselves in a reasonable amount of time,” she said.

“Yes, there are orders for their arrest, and if they do not report themselves, it is only in general terms, if someone with an arrest warrant with this type of accusation does not come within a reasonable time of course there are other avenues we can take. ‘

Miramar police announced on Thursday that they were looking for the two NFL stars after the incident hours earlier.

The two Miami residents attended a cookout at a home near Miami on Wednesday evening, playing cards and video games when a fight allegedly broke out.

In arrest warrants observed by DailyMail.com, witnesses say the fracas started when Baker turned over a card table.

Baker is said to have ‘disabled a semi-automatic firearm’ and ordered three people, including Dunbar, to rob the guests at the meeting.

Baker also sent a masked attacker, identified as “Shy” in police records, to shoot an unidentified person who had just entered the party while the robbery was taking place.

A victim told police he was “scared of his life” while Baker pointed the gun at him, but no one was shot during the incident and no injuries were reported.

The masked attacker took $ 800 and a $ 18,000 Rolex from one guest toward Baker, and $ 7,000 and a $ 25,000 Hublot watch from another, the report says.

Baker then pointed a gun at another guest and ordered him to ‘give him all his money,’ which came down to $ 600 cash and a $ 600 knock-off Richard Mille watch.

Witnesses gave researchers conflicting reports as to whether Dunbar was armed or not. Several said they saw him with a gun, although others claimed he was unarmed, but they did hear him instruct others to steal valuables.

Police said the four men then fled through the house’s patio door and split into three vehicles: a Mercedes Benz, a Lamborghini and a BMW.

Witnesses said the vehicles were parked so that they could leave quickly, causing investigators to think the robbery was planned.

The incident occurred just two days after Baker and Dunbar reportedly lost $ 70,000 in gambling to another party, the warrant says.

If found guilty of holding a semiautomatic weapon, Baker could face 60 years’ imprisonment – a minimum of 15 years for each of the four armed robberies.

Dunbar would face a minimum of 10 years’ imprisonment if found guilty.

After being included in the 30th overall pick from Georgia, Baker played all 16 games for the Giants in 2019, started 15 times and recorded 61 tackles.

He has a base salary of $ 1.4 million for 2020, but that does not include incentives. Baker made over $ 6 million as a rookie in salary and his drawing bonus.

“We are aware of the situation. We’ve been in touch with DeAndre, ‘the Giants said in a statement. “We have no further comments at this time.”

Dunbar signed a contract with the Washington Redskins in 2015 as an involuntary free agent from Florida and was traded to the Seahawks in March. He started 11 games last season, making 37 tackles and four interceptions.

“We are aware of the situation involving Quinton Dunbar and are still collecting information,” the Seahawks said in a statement. “We will postpone any further comments to competition investigators and local authorities.”

Dunbar spent the first time since Washington’s trading to the Seahawks in March a video conference with the media in Seattle on Thursday morning.

“You just want to feel desired at the end of the day. … I just hope to pay them back by the way I wear myself as a person, ‘said Dunbar at the video conference.

He plans to make $ 3.4 million by 2020, according to Spotrac.com, but that’s not fully guaranteed.
