Jennifer Garner has revealed what workouts she did to get into “Marvel shape” for blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine.
The 52-year-old actress, who reprised her role as Elektra in the blockbuster Titan, took to Instagram on Monday to show her 16.4 million followers her intense regimen.
She shared a montage of her gym sessions in a reel, and wrote in her caption that before taking on the role, she was “fit, but not @marvel fit.”
The mother-of-three, whose ex-husband is Ben Affleck, added: “Aside from trying to convince my kids’ preschool classmates that I was secretly a ninja, I hadn’t picked up Elektra’s sais since 2004.”
Her routine included boxing three times a week, Peloton rides and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

Sharing a montage of her gym sessions in a reel, she wrote in the caption that before taking on the role: ‘I was fit, but not @marvel fit.’
The Alias alum described the moment she came up with the idea to make a cameo in the film.
He said Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds, who share “a crazy artistic destiny,” “gave each other that look that can communicate an idea, 20 pages of dialogue, nuclear codes.”
To prepare for the gig, the silver screen siren said: ‘My best friend and original stuntwoman @shaunaduggins and I ramped up our workout, led by @bethjnicely at @thelimitfit: 1x/day, plus whatever homework she assigned for a second workout.’
The gym’s schedule also included “boxing 3 times a week with @flvcothefuture from @matchroomxchurchillgym… and lots and lots of @onepeloton from @becsgentry.”
Jennifer recalled: ‘We had a superhero summer here, twirling sais in the backyard and laughing at our aching old bodies.’
On a more sentimental note, she said: ‘I didn’t know Elektra and I needed an ending, but Shawn and Ryan did.
“They have many gifts, but seeing and elevating the people around them is what matters most.”
Recalling the moment she filmed the cameo, she continued: “Shauna and I were in heaven on set with them, with my old friend @thehughjackman, @dafnekeen, @channingtatum, @realwesleysnipes.”
To conclude the message, the Adam Project star gushed: ‘Filming the fight was so much fun, being there all together, really like a dream.
“I’m proud of my friends and grateful to be up there with them. Thank you isn’t enough, guys, but it’s a good time until I figure out what is.”
Garner reposted a post from Levy, who directed the film, on her Instagram Stories.

Sharing a photo of the cast dressed as their characters, she wrote in a caption on social media: “If there is such a thing as director’s heaven, I think I’ve found it. #deadpoolandwolverine.”
Deadpool & Wolverine debuted in theaters on July 26 and grossed $205 million domestically and $233.3 million internationally.
Following the successful opening weekend, Hugh Jackman wrote on Instagram to his 32.6 million followers: “Wolverine and Deadpool is the number one movie in the world. Thank you ALL!”
Ryan followed suit, taking to his Instagram Stories to write: “This is a little hard to process. But thanks to everyone who went to see the movie this weekend… wow!”
