Police have released CCTV footage showing the car allegedly involved in a hit-and-run that killed a “loving father”.
Emergency services were called to Abell Road in Melonba, about 51 kilometres north-west of Sydney’s CBD, at 11.45pm on Sunday following reports of a man lying injured on the side of the road.
Paramedics worked desperately to save the 79-year-old man, but he died at the scene.
The man’s heartbroken family explained that they were visiting Australia from Nepal to celebrate their daughter’s 25th wedding anniversary.
His daughter, who was too distraught to appear on camera, told Sunrise on Monday that her father was a “lovely family man” who looked after his wife and children.
Speaking to the Today show, he also criticised the cowardly driver for fleeing the scene and not stopping to help his dying father.

The footage, taken from a neighbor’s house, shows a small, dark-colored sedan or coupe speeding down Abell Road.

Investigators have asked for the public’s help in identifying the car and anyone who may have been travelling inside.

Specialized agents assigned to the Accident Investigation Unit established the crime scene and examined it forensically.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
