The station aired footage showing the Tampa Police Department’s forensic unit examining the scene near the dormitory, which is located in the center of campus.
Students received a notification from school officials informing them that there was an ongoing investigation at McKay Hall and that they should avoid the scene.
The cause of the baby’s death has not been made public. “The circumstances surrounding the baby’s death are under investigation,” read a brief police statement.
Officials also said there is no notable threat to the public.
