Alison Sweeney, 47, will reprise her role as Sami Brady in the series after last being seen on the soap in December 2022.

Sweeney, who was first seen on the soap opera in 1993, said Insider information about television that she was “thrilled to be invited back” to the show in her role as Brady.

“I love playing Sami and I’m always happy to get the chance to come back,” Sweeney told the outlet. “We always have to figure out the schedule and stuff, but if it’s possible, I’m really happy to be able to do it.”

Sweeney appeared on the series from 1993 until 2014, when she left to work on other projects. She returned to the series in 2020 and appeared in 2021’s Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas, with her most recent appearance on the series in December 2022.

Sweeney told TV Insider of his appearances: “We were all trying to figure out how much time had passed; no one could remember!”

“I was reminded of Sami’s big exit from the DiMera mansion. I was interested in how and why they were going to bring Sami back to town. With Sami, it could be anything.”

Sweeney told the outlet she gets “nervous every time” because she always wonders if she “can still memorize all these lines.”

Sweeney said: “When I do movies for Hallmark, we shoot eight or nine pages at most. Today I’m up to 30-plus pages. It definitely takes different skills.”

“And everyone at Days is used to doing that every day. I don’t want to be the one they’re waiting for.”

Sweeney said she felt a strong sense of nostalgia upon returning to the set of the long-running soap opera, calling it a “time capsule in a way.”

On his return, Sweeney said it was “definitely an unexpected story” that was presented to him during his comeback.

“I have to tell you, of all the ideas, I was pretty surprised,” Sweeney said.
