The TV presenter, 57, shared the news in an Instagram post on Friday that she had a “very rare” colloid cyst that affects only three in every million people.

Sharing a health update following her surgery, Michael said the operation was “textbook” and she was grateful for everyone’s support.

He wrote: ‘Hi everyone, Davina came out of surgery and according to the surgeon, she was textbook!

“She is currently recovering in the ICU as a precaution, as you can imagine she is completely exhausted.”

Davina explained that she received the diagnosis by chance after scheduling herself for a “health screening.”

Davina said in a video: “I was offered a health check and I thought it was going to be great, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumour, which is very rare, three in a million.”

“I had my head in the sand a little bit for a while, visited some neurosurgeons, had a lot of opinions and realized I needed to get it out.

‘It’s quite big, it’s 14 mm wide and you have to remove it because if it grows it would be bad. I’m going to have it removed.

He added: ‘Say a prayer for me. I’m in a good mood.’

Davina explained that while she was not at any immediate risk, doctors were concerned that the tumor could grow and cause complications.

She revealed that she had been feeling “up and down” and explained that she would be in hospital for at least nine days before returning home.

Although she’s known about the diagnosis for a few months, Davina hasn’t let it slow her down and was photographed last week enjoying a night out at Garnier’s hair mask celebration party.

A colloid cyst is a slow-growing tumor that is usually found near the center of the brain. The benign growth contains gelatinous material.

Most patients experience headaches, although other symptoms such as vertigo, memory problems, and double vision may occur.

If large enough, a colloid cyst obstructs the movement of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain, which leads to a high risk of sudden death.

Davina’s partner Michael Douglas uploaded the video and captioned the post: “Hello everyone. Miguel here. He will be “off the grid” for a while while he recovers from this brain surgery.

‘It is in very good shape and in very good hands. I’ll make the occasional update from his account here for anyone interested.

‘I’m sure you’ll read all the comments when you can, so feel free to send the love . People’s support is incredibly powerful. May everyone have a great day. Miguel xxx’.

Following her announcement, celebrities including Amanda Holden, Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts and Olympic heptathlon gold medalist Dame Denise Lewis approached the presenter.

Amanda said: “Sending you lots of love,” while former Big Brother winner Kate Lawler wrote: “I’m blown away by your positivity Davina.” I wish you all the love and healing prayers after your surgery. See you soon.’

Davina and Michael met when he styled her hair during her Big Brother presentation, which she worked on from 2000 to 2010.

They turned their friendship into romance during the summer of 2019.

A source said the sun at the time: “The romance arose from a place of friendship and trust and the couple simply enjoys each other’s company and laughs.”

‘Davina especially likes Michael’s sense of humor and kind nature. It’s pretty early, but Davina’s co-workers think Michael is a good guy.

“Davina feels ready to move on after the breakdown of her marriage and is very happy.”

The couple confirmed in January 2023 that they had moved in together just before Christmas.

The first of their traditions as a couple living together was watching the king’s speech on the afternoon of Christmas Day.

Speaking on his podcast Making the cutDavina admitted: ‘I’m really enjoying being a new couple doing new things, because we’re only recently living together.

“It’s really nice to create new traditions because we did it before Christmas, we sat together and talked about it: ‘Ok, blank, what are we going to do tradition from now on?’

But earlier this year, Davina said the couple had no plans to get married, adding that they are both “happy” the way they are.

Davina is passionate about health and fitness and is in the best shape of her life after dedicating herself to ritual daily workouts.

Explaining that they were both interested in not “making waves,” Davina said getting married was “off the table.”

‘We are not interested. I had known Michael for so many years (before we got together) that there were no questions to ask like that. I know him. It was easy,’ he said.

Davina confirmed her separation from husband Matthew Robertson in November 2017, telling MailOnline: ‘I am very sad to say that Matthew and I have separated.

“Our amazing children are our number one priority, above all else, so we ask for as much space and respect from the media as possible while our family goes through this difficult time.”

The former couple have three children together, Holly, 22, Tilly, 20, and Chester, 17.

They married in a lavish ceremony at Eastnor Castle, Hertfordshire, in 2000.

Davina has battled several health issues, including drug addiction.

In December 2023 she revealed that she had avoided alcohol for 30 years and gave up sugar completely when her sister Caroline died of lung cancer in August 2012, although she admitted to having become more “gentler” to herself in recent years.

She told Good Housekeeping: “Very often I’m all or nothing as a person. I haven’t drunk in 33 years. I’ve spent my life being pretty rigid with myself.

But her best friend, Sarah Hiscox, had to lock her in a car to report her drug use, prompting her to quit smoking, she said.

Sarah pretended to take her to Santana before taking the opportunity to report her friend’s drug problem, which proved to be the turning point for Davina.
