David W. Duclon, prominent television writer and producer known for creating Punky Brewster, has died at the age of 74.

David W. Duclon, prominent television screenwriter and producer known for creating Punky Brewster, has died at the age of 74.

The comedy writer of the ’80s and ’90s died Wednesday in Illinois after a long illness, according to reports. Deadline.

Duclon, born Warren David Duclon, was also known for co-developing Silver Spoons, the 1982 sitcom that ran for five seasons.

He launched his writing career on iconic comedies of the 1970s, including The Odd Couple, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, The Jeffersons and Diff’rent Strokes.

Duclon most recently served as executive producer on the 2021 revival of Punky Brewster.
