David Sparks, 23, a man from Kentucky who was charged last month for the disappearance of Savannah Spurlock, has been charged with murder
A man from Kentucky who was previously charged with the disappearance of Savannah Spurlock has been charged with murder.
David Sparks, 23, was arrested last month and accused of tampering with physical evidence and abusing a corpse after the remains of Spurlock were discovered on a site in rural Garrard County, owned by the suspect's parents.
Spurlock went missing on January 4 after leaving a bar in Lexington with Sparks and two other men.
Security video reportedly showed the mother of four who came into Sparks' house that evening. The police said it was the last time she was seen alive because there were no images of her departure from the house.
Six months later, researchers finally discovered the remains of Spurlock in a 19-centimeter deep grave and Sparks was taken into custody.
The Spurlock family announced the new indictment against Sparks on Wednesday.
& # 39; Nothing about this situation is positive or happy, because that face has been haunting our nightmares for a long time & # 39 ;, the family wrote in a statement on Facebook.
& # 39; Savannah had a beautiful life before it that was stolen. & # 39;
Sparks is scheduled for the September 6 murder.

The Spurlock family announced the new indictment against Sparks on Wednesday
A survey by DailyMail.com revealed details about what happened to Spurlock the night she left The Other Bar in Lexington with the three men and traveled with them to Sparks' home in the small town of Lancaster.
The disturbing photo contained a claim that the men made a mobile phone video of Spurlock performing a sexual act on each of them and a neighbour's hair-raising reminder of hearing screams at night.
Local residents who spoke with DailyMail.com asked not to be mentioned for fear of retribution, because an atmosphere of fear descended into the small street of derelict rental homes and fixer up in Lancaster.
According to resident: & # 39; Sparks is the kind of man that if you don't do what he wants, he gets angry, he loses it.
& # 39; They all used a drunk girl that night and then the other two left her alone with Sparks.
& # 39; They have made a video of her with the cell phone. The boys showed it at work. She was so drunk that she could not speak, it was as if she could not speak English. & # 39;

Authorities said that with two of the men in the back of a car, Spurlock was driven to the rural house of Sparks, while another vehicle followed with the third man behind. Both cars were seized and investigated by the police as part of their investigation
The Sparks pick-up (above) was later seized by officers after a random traffic stop
Researchers would not comment on the existence of such images from mobile phones, except that they were not information they had ever released.
Another neighbor told DailyMail.com that she was being chased by her own memory of the night Spurlock went missing.
Clearly saddened, the woman who asked not to be mentioned said: “I heard screaming at night. At first I thought it was the children next door, but then I knew it wasn't.
& # 39; I tried to wake my husband up, but he was usually too drunk. I stood up and I listened and I know they came from that house.
Spurlock gave birth to twins in December and she also has a four-year-old son, Noah, and a two-year-old son, Jace
& # 39; They didn't go looking for her for a while, but when the police came I just knew. I knew what I had heard. I know something bad has happened there
& # 39; She never came alive from there. I told the police when they came to search. & # 39;
While the search for Sparks 'parents' house brought national news in February, the search for his rented house was not published just five days after the disappearance of Spurlocks and the place where Spurlock was last seen alive.
Residents remembered how officers descended on the site and searched the yards and scrub behind and adjacent houses.
But before the police turned up on January 10 for that first search, the neighbor said: & # 39; Sparks were in and out of that house to get things out, furniture, carpets … There was a lot of activity in that house before the police once came.
& # 39; The day after they first came, another car stopped and he (Sparks) loaded a lot of things in it and left and I never saw him again. He never came back. & # 39;
Sparks moved back to his parents' house.
She continued: & # 39; The police came back (in April) and they sealed the windows and did all the forensic investigation, but there was so much traffic in that house before they did, I don't know what else I could find. & # 39;
In fact, Luminol tests showed human blood on the inside of a wardrobe door in Sparks' bedroom. It is tested to see if it matches that of Spurlock.
The cupboard was directly in front of a rectangular gray rug that was identical to a rug buried with the remains of Spurlock.
Sparks, 23, was arrested on July 11 after the remains were discovered on the property of his parents in Garrard County
The Kentucky police said they received a tip that took them back to the rural house in Garrard County, which they had immediately sought after Spurlock disappeared. They found the human remains buried on the site just before midnight
Savannah & # 39; s father, Cecil, 54, and his fiancé, Cheryl Lynn Wright, are pictured left last week after Sparks hearing. Spurlock held a photo of himself with his daughter on his lap
Detective Tye Chavies of the Kentucky State Police told the court during the preliminary hearing of Sparks in July that the suspect had sent an SMS to his sister, Sarah, the day after Spurlock went missing, asking: & Hey, where are you? that rug come from? I'm going to buy another one. & # 39;
Surveillance images and proof of purchase show that he went to Walmart and bought the rug that same day.
Within a few days of being reported missing by her worried mother, Ellen, Sparks was identified as one of the three men featured in security footage of Spurlock leaving the Lexington bar.
And according to several people who know him, suspicions began to start locally and then broader, and Sparks and some other family members began to spread the rumor that Spurlock had run away with another man and said she was tired of being a mother. & # 39;
Spurlock gave birth to her two youngest children, twins, in December and was already the mother of two sons of four and two.
That night in Lexington was her first night since birth. But one of the two girls with Spurlock left early that night and the other left the young mother alone after the two collided when she wanted to leave and Spurlock refused to come.
One employee said: & # 39; Sparks went round and said she had just finished her life and you hear some women do that.
& # 39; He said what she was partying when she already had kids like that.
& # 39; He said she told him she was tired of being a mother and just wanted to go out. He said she was busy with baby number five. & # 39;
Sparks' cousin, Jason Sparks, responded to allegations that his brother was involved in the disappearance of Spurlock
In angry Facebook posts posted on a Reddit thread, Sparks' cousin, Jason, responded to allegations that his brother was similarly involved in Spurlock's disappearance.
He wrote: & # 39; .. we dk (don't know) where she is, but I know where she is and that is home to take care of her 4 children … she is probably working with her 5th child somewhere. & # 39;
He then challenged online prosecutors and said: “Don't think they have found anything and made an arrest now, but they didn't because neither he nor I nor my girlfriend had any ***. along … my personal conviction that the mother of the year is going to the bitch who is fleeing, because she didn't want to see her time where she was looking at. & # 39;
Spurlock had to go to court for a DUI charge after she was missing.
This is Lancaster Full Gospel Outreach Church where Allen Sparks, father of David, is pastor
Allen Sparks (photo) reportedly reported authorities after a foul odor came from his backyard. This led to the discovery of Spurlock
The police could not explain why they did not find the remains of Spurlock on their first search for possession of the Sparks in February.
They did not comment on whether they believe her body was moved before it was buried on the site.
She was buried in a grave only 19 centimeters deep and so shallow in places that the black plastic of the garbage bags was visible without disturbing the ground.
It was the father of Sparks, Allen, a pastor at nearby Lancaster Full Gospel Outreach Church, whose report of a & # 39; foul odor & # 39; led to the discovery of the remains of Spurlock and the arrest of his son.
Everyone who spoke with DailyMail.com described Allen, 59, and Alta Sparks, 52, who are also parents of two daughter, Sarah, 20, and Hannah, 22, as & # 39; good people & # 39 ;.
It was remembered that David played the guitar with the family on Sunday services.
Another said: & # 39; The parents and grandparents are good people and the girls, but the sons (David and Joshua) are just problems. The one is crazier than the other. & # 39;
For the Spurlock family there is at least a little comfort in the fact that they have been able to bring her home.
Her father Cecil Spurlock, 54, attended Sparks' preliminary hearing on Monday with his fiancé Cheryl Lynn Wright, 51, and his daughter & # 39; s best friends Sabrina Speratos, 22, and Kala Hamblin, 22.
He grabbed a photo of his daughter and said he was just trying to breathe & # 39 ;. Spurlock & # 39; s mother, Ellen, 47, has not been seen in public anymore and has not commented since her daughter was found.
Spurlock was laid to rest on Wednesday during a private ceremony in Richmond, Kentucky. But the investigation into her death is not over yet.
The police did not comment on whether the other two men with Sparks face charges that night and have told DailyMail.com that the charging process for Sparks is not over & # 39 ;.
