Australian politician David Pocock has responded to a snooty journalist who called him out for wearing a T-shirt while being interviewed in parliament.

The senator wore a Tame Impala T-shirt as he addressed reporters during an unscheduled interview in the halls of federal parliament in Canberra on Tuesday morning.

But Sky News journalist Caleb Bond was not impressed with the senator’s casual attire in the workplace and called him out live on television last night.

He began his tirade by discussing how Victorian Prime Minister Daniel Andrews rarely wears a tie when addressing the media before unleashing Pocock.

“He couldn’t even put on a collared shirt,” Bond said.

Go to a store and go buy a goddamn shirt, a tie, and a suit. You are a politician!

Senator David Pocock (pictured with his wife Emma) got some fashion advice after heading to Parliament in a casual outfit.

Senator Pocock responded to Bond’s sarcastic comment on Wednesday.

‘What do you think? Take advantage of?’ she tweeted herself.

“I came straight from an early morning tennis match celebrating 100 years of Tennis ACT and agreed to do a door stop (not a pre-arranged interview) in the hallway on my way out of the Press Gallery after a morning radio interview.

“It’s great to see the big issues being reported.”

He ended the tweet with a crying laughing emoji.

He was quickly inundated with overwhelming support, generating over 600 comments in two hours.

Many praised Senator Pocock for his taste in music as well as his way of dressing.

“A Tame Impala T-shirt is so much better than a suit,” wrote one follower.

Another added: ‘As an ACT resident I don’t care what you’re wearing. I am interested in a good policy that benefits the country. If you can do that in shorts and thongs, I’ll take it over someone in a suit getting nowhere.

A third wrote: I am 100% in favor of David Pocock wearing an Aussie band t-shirt for every interview.

Others questioned who declared Bond the Parliamentary fashion police.

“If that’s all Sky have to complain about, it really says more about them than David Pocock…and he doesn’t need to explain himself,” wrote one.

Many also pointed out that previous prime ministers had led the media in similar outfits, including avid cyclist Tony Abbott and the Wallabies’ tragic John Howard jersey and tracksuit.

Pocock is a former Wallabies wing who played 78 tests for Australia before becoming one of two senators chosen to represent the ACT in the 2022 election.
