The 30-year-old Spanish international goalkeeper lost his place to Dean Henderson last season after a slump in form.
He was recalled to the Europa League final against Villarreal last month but flopped in the penalty shootout.

But the sun reports that De Gea believes his future still lies at Old Trafford.
De Gea has been given no indication that he will face the exit after 10 years at the Premier League club.
Henderson also believes he will eventually be number 1 for United and England.

“Yes, 100 per cent,” Henderson said of his intention to take on that role at United and England.
‘I’ve been talking about this for years. Whether it gets me in trouble to talk about it, or holds me back at certain times, it probably does.
“But eventually it will happen one day and I know it will happen, so I just keep working hard day in, day out and my time will come. I just have to be ready when that time comes.
