In captioning the photo, David tagged Vanessa Bryant – the widow of the late basketball player Kobe Bryant, who died along with their daughter Gianna in a helicopter crash in Southern California in January 2020.

Father of four David, who is married to singer and designer Victoria Beckham, wrote: ‘I said someone stole my hoodie’ and added the hashtag ‘playgigisway’.

This comes more than a year after Kobe, 41, and daughter Gianna – AKA Gigi, 13 – were tragically killed in a helicopter crash along with seven others on January 26, 2020.

The athleisure line was launched in partnership with New York-based brand Dannijo, by Vanessa in honor of her late daughter Gianna and husband Kobe.

It features tie-dye sweatshirts, joggers and face masks with a No. 2 heart motif, which is a nod to Gigi’s jersey number she wore when she played basketball.

Sales of the line benefit the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a positive impact for disadvantaged athletes and young sportswomen

NBA star Kobe was nicknamed the Black Mamba and his daughter was nicknamed Mambacita because she was a basketball star in her own right at the time of her death.

In March, Kobe Bryant LLC filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office to seek trademarks for such expressions as Lady Mambas, Lil Mambas, Mamba Sports Academy and Mambacitas.

The company affiliated with the late star and his family told patent officials that the line would be used for garments such as tops, dresses, pants, socks and hooded sweatshirts; and activewear including footwear and tires, according to TMZ.

According to the outlet, the move could have been to preemptively block people from trying to cash in on the family’s popularity with the accompanying phrases.

Tom Brady made a similar move two years ago with the phrase Tom Terrific, and the trademark was denied.

Also in March, Vanessa also got a ‘Mambacita’ tattoo on her wrist in tribute to her late husband, whose nickname on court was Black Mamba.

She then spoke of the unimaginable pain and her journey through grief after their devastating death.

Bryant recently shared how she coped with the loss by focusing on ‘finding the light in the darkness,’ she said in the People magazine editorial.

“Crying in bed won’t change the fact that my family will never be the same again. But getting out of bed and pushing forward will make the day better for my girls and for me. So that’s what I do. ‘

“My girls help me smile through the pain,” Vanessa revealed to the magazine.

Kobe and Vanessa are also parents to daughters Bianka, four, and Capri, 21 months old, adding, “They give me strength.”

Vanessa said some days are more difficult than others, with the pain bringing her to her knees: ‘I can’t say I’m strong every day. I can’t say there aren’t days when I feel like I can’t survive the next. ‘

‘The pain is unimaginable [but] all you have to do is get up and push forward, ”she continued.

‘I think the best way to describe it is that Kobe and Gigi motivated me to keep going. They inspire me to do my best and get better every day. Their love is unconditional and they motivate me in so many ways. ‘
