David Beckham has pocketed almost £29million in payouts after his Netflix show was a hit.

Brand Beckham more than doubled his earnings in 2023, thanks to the documentary that followed the former England captain and his wife Victoria.

Beckham’s huge £28.8m dividend came after he sold part of his business empire – which includes deals with brands such as Stella Artois and Ninja – two years ago.

It now owns 45% after selling the remaining 55% to buyout group Authentic Brands, which also owns British fashion chain Ted Baker.

In total, there were significant payouts with £22.6m of dividends paid to shareholders during 2023 and a further £40.5m in early 2024.

Its brands saw sales rise to £72.3m, up 2% on 2022, while profits soared to £28.9m, more than double the £12.8m in 2022.

Fan frenzy over Posh and Becks has skyrocketed since Beckham, the series produced by David’s Studio 99 TV firm, was one of the most popular shows on the streaming service worldwide last year.

The documentary series featured never-before-seen footage of the football hero’s astronomical rise from his working-class beginnings to global stardom.

Newly filed accounts branded the show a “resounding success”, after it helped the production company generate £11.9m in sales.

This is the icing on the cake for the 49-year-old, who spent Christmas in Miami with his wife Victoria and their four children.

Former Spice Girl Victoria shared a Christmas photo of the family celebrating the holidays together abroad this week.

The post was captioned with a wholesome message: “Being together during the holidays makes me so happy xxxx I love you all so much.”

The success of Netflix has also helped David gain a larger following on social media: he now has 88 million followers on Instagram.

The numbers are a breath of fresh air amid the recent backlash over the couple’s third oldest child, Cruz. A preview of her latest song ‘For Ya Love’ sparked discussions about her ‘nepo baby’ status on Instagram this weekend.

The 19-year-old responded to critics with a comment that “Jesus was a nepo baby,” which he quickly deleted less than 12 hours later.

Victoria’s new fashion and beauty business has enjoyed improved business since 2022, with sales rising 52% to £89.1 million in 2023.
