David Beckham appeared to be having an awkward conversation with Clarkson’s Farm star Gerald Cooper when they were spotted in deep conversation at The Checkers pub in Chipping Norton on Saturday night.
Fans of Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon Prime show will know that Gerald is well known for his barely audible speech thanks to his thick West Country accent.
And while viewers and Jeremy himself struggle to understand the fan favorite on a regular basis, it seemed like the Beckhams were also having a tough time when they were seen concentrating hard after colliding with Gerald.
The megastar couple had swapped their posh Michelin-starred restaurants for the cozy surroundings of the Cotswolds country pub, where they were seen enjoying a leisurely lunch.
In snaps of their meeting, David is seen standing up to greet Gerald, 74, before sitting down next to his wife and striking up a conversation with the dry stone mason, who first appeared on Jeremy Clarkson’s show in 2021.
Gerald has since become a cult figure throughout the series thanks to his accent, on-screen charisma and funny interactions with the former Top Gear presenter, 64.

As the couple zoned out for some downtime from their busy schedules, David, 49, and Victoria, 50, no doubt had to work overtime to decipher what Gerald was saying – and the TV star was difficult to understand thanks to its thick West Country style. accent
Her meeting with Gerald is not surprising given the fact that he works on the nearby Diddly Squat farm in Chipping Norton, while the Grade II listed Beckham’s farm is located on the nearby Great Tew estate.
During the friendly exchange, the Beckhams cut a casual figure, with David opting for a plain white t-shirt while Victoria bundled up in a brown turtleneck.
This isn’t the first time David has met fan favorite Gerald.
In May 2023, David visited Jeremy’s Diddly Squat Farm, and the football legend stopped to pose for a photo with Gerald.
David, who cut a relaxed figure in a navy knit sweater over a white and blue striped shirt, smiled as he put an arm around Gerald’s shoulders.
Gerald looked cheerful in a dark blue sweater, black sweatpants, and a pair of navy sneakers.
Captioning the cheerful photo, Jeremy joked: ‘Gerald. And another man.
Gerald and Jeremy have formed a strong friendship, despite the presenter not fully understanding the farmer due to his thick West Country accent.

David’s pub outing comes days after he was seen narrowly avoiding a parking fine in Manchester city center earlier this month.
The former footballer, who recently celebrated the New Year in Miami with his family, was seen leaving the Gary Neville Stock Exchange hotel with his £600,000 black Rolls Royce Cullinan which he had parked on the double yellow lines.
He was accompanied by his mother Sandra and his father Ted.
However, it appears the sports star managed to avoid a parking fine as he showed his parents the VIP treatment as they left the five-star hotel.
David wrapped himself in a smart navy winter coat after spending the day in Manchester, white shirt and black tie.
Meanwhile, Victoria wished her daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz a happy 30th birthday on Instagram on Thursday as she shared a video of the couple dancing.
The post comes after Victoria’s son and Nicola’s husband Brooklyn shared a photo of the fires, where they live. It is not known if they have evacuated.
