Dave Portnoy bets it all on Caitlin Clark.
The WNBA Finals may be more than a month away, but the founder of Barstool Sports has already placed a very bold bet that the Indiana Fever will take home the championship.
“Caitlin Clark is one of the top three players in the league. Maybe the best. She rested for the first time in a year,” X wrote on Sunday.
“Ayliah Boston and their chemistry is growing with every game. They started out 1-8. They’ve gone 10-7 since then and are getting better. I had to do it,” he added, alongside a screenshot of his $100,000 bet.
Fans were divided over the high stakes, particularly since the Fever’s only championship came more than a decade ago in 2012.

“Caitlin Clark is one of the top three players in the league. Maybe the best,” he said of the superstar rookie.
“Betting $100,000 on a whim is crazy,” one fan wrote in response.
Another suggested: “You were probably a year too early on this.”
Others were more optimistic, with one fan writing: “With those odds, it’s worth a try, you never know!”
A second chimed in: “This will be the biggest gamble in history,” while another simply called it “bold.”
If Indiana overcomes the odds and takes home the Commissioner’s Cup Trophy, Portnoy will earn a whopping $10,100,000.
The controversial media mogul is no stranger to sports betting making headlines.
Portnoy pocketed $1.6 million when the Boston Celtics captured their franchise-record 18th title against the Dallas Mavericks in June.
After outlasting Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Mavs in five games, Jayson Tatum, Jalen Brown and company won Boston’s first title since 2008.

Portnoy recently won $1.6 million on a futures bet after the Celtics won the NBA title.
As the team celebrated with green and white confetti at TD Garden, the Barstool Sports boss was enjoying another big win on a future bet.
Portnoy turned a $100,000 bet into a big payout by combining the Celtics’ title win with Scottie Scheffler’s victory at the RBC Heritage.
“It’s not about the money but I’ll take the 1.6 million quickly,” the 47-year-old wrote on X with a screenshot of his betting slip.
Previously stated having won $5.4 million in the first four months of 2024 alone, after correctly predicting outcomes in golf, college basketball, the NFL, and college football.
However, his The hot streak came to an end with the Stanley Cup Final.
Portnoy would have pocketed $1.2 million if the Oilers had beaten the Panthers, after placing a $150,000 bet on Edmonton in April.
“The streak ended last night. Can’t be mad at the Oilers. They made a great run,” Portnoy wrote on X at the time.
