Boyd Tinsley was arrested for DUI after allegedly crashing into another car on Monday.
The 60-year-old violinist, best known for having been a member of the Dave Matthews Band, was reportedly arrested around 9:30 pm on Monday in Rio, which is just northeast of his hometown of Charlottesville in Virginia.
According to a report by TMZ On Tuesday, local police sources said officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash, but had him handcuffed within 20 minutes because they suspected he was driving under the influence at the time of the incident.
Eyewitnesses claimed he was driving his Escalade when he allegedly collided with a Corvette.
Passersby told the outlet that the two drivers stopped to assess the damage.

That’s when the other driver allegedly suspected Tinsley was under the influence and called police.
Video footage obtained by the outlet showed police with Tinsley at the scene and the other driver.
Arrest records showed he was booked around 9:30 p.m. and was released an hour later after posting bail.
This comes just four months after the mandolinist was sued for violating a mutual non-disparagement clause in a 2018 lawsuit since settled.
Six years ago, his former Crystal Garden bandmate James Frost-Winn, a trumpeter he mentored, alleged that Tinsley harassed him.
He sought $9 million in damages after claiming Tinsley allegedly behaved inappropriately and sexually harassed him.
Frost-Winn explained in the lawsuit that he was a busker when he met Boyd in 2007 and that he was 18 years old at the time.
The lawsuit accused Tinsley of “ejaculating right next to” Frost-Winn while he was sleeping, and the trumpeter woke up to Tinsley’s hand on his buttocks.

Other allegations include inappropriate sexting in which Tinsley told Frost-Winn that she “owed” him for bringing her into the band and giving her “this life.”
Amid the accusations, Dave Matthews Band announced that he was no longer with the group.
It was also reported at the time that he had already been “taking a break” from the band for about three months.
Tinsley joined the Dave Matthews Band in 1992, two years after the group’s creation.
It appeared on every Dave Matthew’s Band album, from 1994’s Under the Table and Dreaming to 2018’s Come Tomorrow.
The band announced they were no longer a member shortly after the 2018 lawsuit was filed in May 2018.
In response to Frost-Winn’s initial complaint, Tinsley denied all allegations and said she intended to defend herself in court.
However, he ended up settling out of court with Frost-Winn the following year.
This comes just four months after he was sued for violating the terms of a 2019 settlement stemming from a sexual harassment lawsuit, which resulted in the band dropping him from the group. Under the terms of the settlement, both sides were prevented from discussing the matter publicly and agreed to a $25,000 fine for each violation of the non-disparagement clause.
Frost-Winn’s attorneys claimed in the new lawsuit that Tinsley violated the clause on Feb. 22, 2022, with a series of social media posts, citing 18 instances in which she violated the clause totaling $450,000.
At the time, screenshots of Tinsley’s posts sent by Frost-Winn’s lawyers and obtained by Rolling Stone claimed she wrote about the allegations on social media, calling them “a total lie.”

Although Tinsley did not mention Frost-Winn by name, she called her accuser “a very disturbed and deranged person.”
The violinist also said that he “had a lot of fun spending my money…the music took a backseat and it was all about getting drunk and playing pinball.”
