Dave arrived during Sunday’s episode and quickly indicated that he was surprised to have signed up.
‘I can’t believe I agreed to do this. I want to cry. “I’m pretty sure I don’t have any jungle skills,” he said.
Dave then sang his own praises and said: ‘If you live in Australia and don’t know me, I don’t believe you. You do know me. I am a god.’
‘I do comedy at least four nights a week, because do you know why? “I desperately need attention,” he added.

‘I’m absolutely happy to have a break for a long time. I have had the same experience every year for 20 years and why? There is no need now.
“I have to do what I want to do and that’s partly why I go to the jungle, for fun and something different.”
The Melbourne-based radio presenter said he was “torn” between two cities as he traveled to Sydney each week to present the show.
‘Initially the intention was to move to Sydney, but it just didn’t happen. First, there was Covid and my family settled in Melbourne, my wife enjoyed her job and my children enjoyed their school, so after a while we realized I wasn’t going to move.’
Dave said he was “basically pretending to live in Sydney for three and a half years” and it was “exhausting”.
