Max Verstappen has once again taken aim at Netflix series Drive to Survive, revealing the one thing he ‘hates’ about being on the hit series.

Verstappen, 26, has had a difficult relationship with the program that took F1 into the stratosphere with the American public, previously claiming it was fabricating storylines and was “over-the-top”.

And during a joint appearance on The Project ahead of this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix, Verstappen’s former Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo was asked what the reigning world champion was really like.

“Max is funny,” Ricciardo said. “I’m not saying it’s not obvious that it is, but…”

Verstappen then interrupted him, where he slipped on Drive to Survive.

“You don’t see me much in Drive to Survive, which is why I don’t like doing it. You probably don’t understand my good side because it’s just an interview, I’m just sitting in a dark room and I hate it.

“And there are always questions about F1-related topics that I don’t like to talk about.”

“They put a mic in front of you and you have to talk about the season…just have a casual interaction, have fun.”

“I play padel with Daniel, which is a lot of fun. Plus, some things are just private, right? People don’t need to know what we do and what we say.

Ricciardo added: “Apart from serious interviews, he surprisingly has a very funny sense of humor.”

Verstappen’s start to the season has not gone smoothly, despite winning the first two races.

His Red Bull team is mired in Christian Horner’s ‘sex texts’ scandal, while the world champion has threatened to quit the team if influential figure Helmut Marko leaves.

With a seat at Mercedes opening up ahead of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025, Verstappen has inevitably been linked to the Silver Arrows.

Asked if he envisions a world in which he doesn’t race for Red Bull, the Dutchman replied: “Once I stop driving!” Good question. I don’t really think about it anyway, I know I have a contract until 2028, so I guess that says enough.
