The tourist boat had just come out of a tunnel under the cliff that probably would have obscured his view.

Audible sobs are heard as the man, from the town of Hajin in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor governorate, crashes into the boat with an audible thud.

He fell from a height of 118 feet and hit the boat with his head, killing him instantly and also injuring the captain of the boat.

Lebanese civil defense officers retrieved the young man’s body from the water and took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The captain was taken to another hospital, where he was treated for his undisclosed injuries.

Diving from the Raouche Rocks into the sea below is a popular activity among young men in the Lebanese capital.

It is unclear how long the victim was in Lebanon, but his hometown in Syria was occupied by the Islamic State group in 2014.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Lebanon has 865,530 registered Syrian refugees and a total of 1.5 million Syrians.
