Danny Dyer has admitted his obsession with his daughter Dani’s fiancé Jarrod Bowen as the father-daughter duo discussed plans for their upcoming wedding day.
Love Island star Dani, 28, and footballer Jarrod, 27, got engaged in July after the England player popped the question in Portugal.
Danny, 47, is a loyal fan of West Ham United, of which Jarrod is captain, and has had no qualms about showing his approval of his future son-in-law.
Appearing on Heart Breakfast on Tuesday alongside Dani, the actor revealed that Jarrod had asked for her hand before proposing.
Host Kelly Brook asked: ‘Now Dani, I have to get personal, you’re engaged to Jared, did she ask your dad’s permission to marry you?

Danny, 47, is a loyal supporter of West Ham United, of which Jarrod is captain, and has not been shy about showing his approval of his future son-in-law (pictured with Jarrod).
Danny responded, “Yeah, he called me and everything and asked for her hand in marriage.”
Fellow presenter Jason King admitted he would be “terrified” of having to ask the famous “tough man” for permission, but Danny explained: “No, you have to remember I’m obsessed with this man.”
‘In my opinion, there is nothing he can do wrong. He scored the winning goal in a European final.
Jason joked: ‘Dani, you did well there, you knew exactly what you were doing’, prompting Dani to joke: ‘I feel like it’s about time I gave you a good one, eh?’
His father laughed and joked: ‘I really did, it had to be fair!’
Dani also opened up about her plans for the big day, as Danny joked that he would be hit by a “very naughty bill”, and she revealed that Jarrod was “petrified by the whole thing”.
Jason questioned the couple about the possibility of a father-daughter dance, saying: ‘I found out today that a father-daughter dance is a thing at a wedding. This never existed, it was always about the first dance between the couple, but apparently there is a daddy-daughter dance, did you know about this?
Dani replied: ‘Yes, apparently. I heard about this the other day and someone mentioned it to me because I have some weddings coming up next year and they have a daddy daughter dance. That’s so special.’

Dani also opened up about her plans for the big day, as Danny joked that he would be hit by a “very naughty bill”, and she revealed that Jarrod was “petrified by the whole thing”.
A bewildered Danny asked, “How about something rehearsed?” as Dani confessed: ‘Well, I would love the rehearsal thing or is it a little extra?’
When Danny admitted he thought it was “a little weird,” Dani continued, “Some people do dirty dancing properly!” before quickly clarifying: ‘Not you and not me!’
Danny joked: ‘I was going to say it!’ as Dani explained: ‘No, you know the uprising when they do it, right?’
Danny joked: ‘This is getting worse. What with you? Hit you around my neck and all that?
An exasperated Dani said: ‘The iconic elevator! You’ve seen Dirty Dancing, when she runs towards him and he lifts her in the air.
Danny responded, “Yeah, but you shouldn’t do that with your dad,” while Dani repeated, “No, not you and I, but people do a lot of choreography.”
Danny then suggested, “I’d love to see you and Jarrod do that, that would be amazing.” In his full West Ham kit!’
Dani laughed: ‘Imagine Jarrod doing that!’ As Jason asked, ‘Would I be able to do that?’ Because if he’s injured, that’s not cool.”
Dani and Jarrod have been dating since 2021 and share twin daughters Summer and Star, 17 months, while Dani is also mom to son Santiago, three, with ex-boyfriend Sammy Kimmence (pictured with the kids).
During an appearance on the MailOnline podcast, Straight to the comments! , Dani was probed about how she integrated the footballer into her famous family, recalling Jarrod’s first meeting with Danny
Dani replied: ‘He just wouldn’t do it, he’s very shy isn’t he? He’s petrified by the whole thing. To be honest, I don’t think I understand what a wedding entails!’
Danny defended the footballer, saying: “No, but I didn’t do it and I’m generalizing but I don’t think most men do.” We simply arrived with the guests. It’s about the woman. It’s women’s day, she deserves it.’
Speaking about more wedding plans, the Rivals star continued: “We haven’t talked about the dress yet. I mean, I know it’s coming and I’m going to get hit with a very naughty bill.
Dani chimed in to say, “No, you said you were going to do the bar tab,” while a disgruntled Danny asked, “What, if I do the bar tab and the dress?”
Dani replied: ‘No, but I think I’ll get you a good discount on the dress. And we won’t do doubles or tequila, like any drink.
But Danny disagreed and said, ‘Oh no, you’ve got to let people go crazy, honey, it’s a wedding!’

She revealed: ‘It was good! Anyway, he knew Jarrod because Jarrod plays for a team he supports. So my dad supports West Ham.
Asked if it would have been a problem if Jarrod played for West Ham’s rivals Millwall, Dani insisted: “No! I don’t know, he wouldn’t care.
“Listen, people always say, ‘Oh, I bet your dad loves it because you’re dating someone from West Ham,’ but he could be a complete prick, you know what I mean? And he’s not, so “I think that was just an advantage. The West Ham thing was an advantage.”
Giving his account of his first meeting Jarrod at a family gathering for Bonfire Night, Danny admitted he knew instantly there was “true love” between the pair.
He told TalkSport: ‘What do you say? I wanted to take off her shoes, put her feet on the couch and give her a good massage. But you don’t want to go in too hard!
“The only thing I want to see, like any father, is my daughter in love and when they are not with the right person, they are not the same.” There is something that is not right.
‘And she was my Dani in front of him. That’s love. He understands her and it’s a beautiful thing. Maybe I encouraged it too much, but it’s true love between the two of them.
After the couple announced their engagement in the summer, Danny was quick to comment: “The most beautiful couple in the world.” Well… you better start writing that speech. I love you both so much.’
Last month, he revealed that he and his family “stepped up” to help Dani raise her three children, while Jarrod was away at the Euros (Dani and Danny pictured at the Euro final).
Danny explained how he and his wife Joanne Mas, 47, help with childcare duties as well as co-parenting their children Sunnie, 17, and son Arty, 10.

‘It’s hard to juggle that and the kids, so we’ve stepped up as a family, as you do. We are only trying to raise decent human beings.
