Danielle Spencer wishes ex Russell Crowe ‘happiness’ on his 57th birthday after the death of his father
Russell Crowe’s ex-wife Danielle Spencer has dedicated a heartfelt tribute to the actor on his 57th birthday as he continues to mourn the death of his father.
Danielle, who had been married to the actor for nine years, took to Twitter on Wednesday and posted two throwback photos of herself and Russell posing with their families in happier times, alongside a special birthday message.
“It has been a very difficult and sad week for the Crowe family. I wish you luck on your birthday today Russell [love heart emoji, rose emoji], ‘the actress wrote.

One photo depicted fresh-faced Russell and Danielle hugging their sons Charles and Tennyson in the stands of a sports stadium, while another showed Russell in his iconic Gladiator costume.
Danielle and Russell, who met on the set of the movie The Crossing in 1989, were married in April 2003 at the actor’s farm in Nana Glen, New South Wales.
They split in 2012 and finalized their divorce six years later.

Danielle had also shared a tribute to her former father-in-law last Wednesday, posting on Instagram that John Alexander would be missed greatly.
Danielle uploaded a throwback photo of her two sons posing with their grandfather, writing, ‘Sadly my boys lost their grandfather yesterday. Alex Crowe, you were much loved and will be greatly missed. ‘
Russell announced his father’s death on Tuesday afternoon, describing him as the ‘gentlest man’ in a series of tweets.

John died on a regional Qantas flight from Sydney to Coffs Harbor, despite a desperate attempt to keep him alive.
The Cinderella star wrote of his father’s death: “I came back to the bush last night. Although the sun is shining and the torrential rains have abated, this date will be forever of grief.
‘My dear old man, my beautiful father, the gentlest man, has passed away.

Prior to John’s death, the couple isolated together on the family’s estate in Nana Glen, New South Wales, with Russell revealing that he wanted to be close to his parents John and Joceyln in the midst of the pandemic.
Crowe Sr. was born in New Zealand in 1936 and died on arrival in Coffs Harbor, where he lived for the past 25 years.
The star’s father was part of Russell’s inspiration for entering the film industry: the family moved from New Zealand to Sydney when Russell was four, while his mother and father Jocelyn pursued careers as a caterer on the film set.
In addition to a catering business with his wife, Crowe Sr. also as a hotel manager.
John Alexander (pictured with his wife) died Tuesday at the age of 85 on a regional Qantas flight from Sydney to Coffs Harbor on NSW’s north coast.
