Former soldier Daniel Khalife appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after being accused of escaping from HMP Wandsworth.
The 21-year-old was taken into custody on Monday.
He was arrested on a canal towpath in west London at 10.41am on Saturday after a plainclothes counter-terrorism officer pulled him off a bicycle.
Before his alleged escape, Khalife had been remanded in Wandsworth Prison after being charged with terrorism offenses in January.
His next appearance will be at the Old Bailey on September 29.
