Daniel Andrews resigns as Victorian premier following shock announcement
Daniel Andrews has announced his resignation as premier of Victoria in a shock announcement.
He spoke to the media after calling an early press conference in Melbourne on Tuesday afternoon.
Sky News reported that Melbourne identity and TV personality Eddie McGuire said during a packed lunch that Victoria would have a new premier by the big day of the AFL grand final, in four days.
“Today I will again attend Government House and resign as Prime Minister and MP for Mulgrave, effective at 5pm tomorrow,” Andrews told reporters.

“This is not an easy task as Premier of our state. This requires 100% from you and your family. Of course, it’s time-limited and now is the time to walk away.
