One of the stars of Dance Moms: A New Era has revealed a heartbreaking secret about her son’s death.
Min, a Chinese-American mother whose eight-year-old daughter Mina is one of the child dancers in the Hulu series, said she had been hiding the death of her 13-year-old son Siyan from her parents, who live in China.
She shared the shocking secret after Mina spoke about Siyan’s death during dance rehearsals.
The group was practicing a routine called ‘The Medium’, which revolved around a psychic medium contacting an ‘angelic spirit’ in the afterlife, when coach Glo Hampton asked the girls if they had ever lost someone close to them.
At that time, Mina confessed that her older brother had died in a car accident.

Min’s eight-year-old daughter Mina (pictured) broke down in tears as she spoke about her brother’s death on the show.
Mina burst into tears as her fellow dancers surrounded her in a group hug, all while her emotional mother watched from the waiting room.
Speaking later to producers, Min confirmed that Siyan had died on January 17, 2021.
“My parents don’t know that my son died,” she admitted through tears.
“They are in China. When I call them, they always ask me: ‘How is my son?’ And I tell them: ‘He’s fine.’ I don’t want them to know,” she sobs.
The other moms gathered around Min and Leslie said, “I could see the pain all over her face.”
She added: “I can’t think of anything more horrible, more nightmarish than losing your child.”
Later in the episode, Min broke down again as her daughter’s dance group prepared to take the stage.
“Mina, I appreciate you being able to dance – this group dance – to help Mom tell her how much we love Siyan,” she cried.
“I’ve tried not to think about him. When I think about him I cry. I can’t control myself. My eyes hurt,” she exclaimed.

‘Siyan died two years ago and this is your moment to dance for him.’
Min broke down again, telling producers: “I’ve tried not to think about him. When I think about him, I cry. I can’t control myself. My eyes hurt.”
She continued, “A good dancer can put emotion into any dance. If Mina can express herself in dance, maybe my son can see how much we love him.”
Dance Moms: A New Era is the official reboot of Lifetime’s Dance Moms, which went off the air in 2019.
The reboot is streaming on Hulu and features Glo Hampton taking the place of original coach Abby Lee Miller.
The pair were friends for many years, but Glo recently admitted that they no longer speak to each other.
When asked if Abby had given her any advice on starring in the popular series, Glo said: Page six“I’m not sure he’d want to give me advice. He’s not talking to me right now.”
Glo continued: ‘She reached out and congratulated me and I thought she was supportive of the whole thing. And then when I reached out to try to meet up, because we were in Florida at the same time, she just wasn’t very receptive.
“I’m not sure what our current situation is, but I think she thinks one way or another. I understand that, but it’s a new show, it’s not her show.”
