Damon Lindelof explains why he recently said goodbye to the Star Wars franchise.
During an interview with Esquirepublished online on Friday, the Lost maker claimed, “I was in over talks to join the Star Wars universe. I joined the Star Wars universe and was asked to leave.”
That was reported in March Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight would step in to work on the script for Oscar-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s project following the departure of Lindelof and up-and-coming writer Justin Britt-Gibson.
Previously, Lindelof started working on the film in July 2022, holding a two-week secret session with writers to tell a story. Then he and Britt-Gibson set out to write the script for the post-2019 project. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalkerper sources at the time.
Although it didn’t work out with this movie, The leftovers maker would like to come back to the Star Wars universe if requested. “Shall I get back in line outside the club and try to get back in?” he added. “Absolute.”
Lindelof said the original Star Wars was the first movie he ever saw in theaters and he really felt connected to the stories of the movie, so it definitely has a special place in his heart.
He said, “If you don’t succeed at first, try again, or try again, as Yoda would say.”
Earlier this month, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed at Star Wars Celebration in London that there will be three new Star Wars functions are in progress. Specifically, Daisy Ridley will star in Obaid-Chinoy’s.
