Dame Joan Collins has revealed that she believes woke culture has gotten out of control and robbed Britain of its sense of humour.
The 90-year-old Hollywood actress didn’t hold back and took aim at the changing culture, particularly in showbiz, regarding the word actress.
The star insisted that she prefers to be called “actress” and finds the term “actress” degrading.
Speaking with Andrew Pierce in an interview about GB News On Friday Joan made it clear: ‘In general I like to be called an actress. It is a very beautiful and feminine word and I consider myself feminine and feminist.
‘Why should we call ourselves actresses? Frankly, I find it degrading.
Dame Joan Collins took aim at woke culture as she claimed it had gotten “out of control” and revealed why she hates the term “female actor” in an interview with GB News on Friday.
The star insisted that she prefers to be called an ‘actress’ and finds the term ‘actress’ degrading.
When the announcer asked if the awakening had gone too far, the star responded: “Oh my God, yes, you know it has.”
“I think it’s gotten out of hand, really. You can’t say anything. People get offended. We’ve lost our British sense of humour.
“I grew up and my dad would go there, because he was a music hall agent, and we’d go and watch outrageous comedians making jokes about his mother-in-law and fat people.
‘You can’t say that now. You can’t say any of that now.
The star added: “If I’m in a room with some actors and actresses, I call us actors, and sometimes I call myself acting actor,” he added. “But in general I like to be called an actress.”
It’s not the first time Joan has spoken out against woke culture after taking part in a heated debate in 2018 when she was asked about the campaign to ban the song Baby It’s Cold Outside.
During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, the veteran actress sided with outspoken presenter Piers Morgan, claiming the world has gone PC crazy and things are “getting worse and worse” in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
Joan said the art of seduction will be eliminated as modern consent culture becomes “out of control”, denouncing current cultural attitudes towards sexuality.

The debate followed news that radio stations banned the 1949 Oscar-winning song, originally performed by Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalbán, amid concerns that the lyrics promoted date rape.
Joan called the scandal ridiculous and declared: What’s going to happen to the seduction? It’s getting out of control, this all happened in two years.
‘It’s getting worse, it’s one of the sweetest numbers, how dare they?’
Susanna Reid chimed in: ‘You’re enrolled in the Piers Morgan (school of thought), the world has gone mad!’
Piers also asked Joan about restricting the subject of comedians’ jokes for fear of offending people.
The former Dynasty star stated: “In the past, I saw comedians make jokes about other nationalities, now you can’t say anything…
‘Not even about people with curly hair… you can only make jokes about age! It’s not welcome to me at all, but it seems to be the only thing left standing!’
