Dame Joan Collins oozed sophistication as she headed to M&S for shopping on Saturday wearing a cream flat cap and Burberry scarf.

The legendary actress, 90, took to Instagram over the weekend to share that she had headed to the British supermarket to pick up some treats.

She looked as stylish as ever for the shopping trip as she paired the flat cap with a matching cream coat, while laughing at the checkout with a cashier.

Joan also wore a pair of oversized brown sunglasses while inside the store and sported vibrant red lipstick while picking up chicken, salad and a bouquet of roses.

“So here we are on Saturday afternoon, shopping for the weekend,” he said.

‘We’re going to buy salads, we’re going to buy chicken, we could even buy these roses, they look great. And it’s not too crowded or too public. Happy Saturday.”

Joan captioned the post: “Saturday is always a great day to shop #M&S #Happysaturday #groceryshopping #M&Sfood.”

It comes after Joan told of going hungry on the set of Dynasty when the show’s bosses “refused to let the cast eat.”

She played the role of Alexis Carrington Colby on the American soap opera for eight years, until 1989, and spoke of how the crew gorged themselves on “buns and candy” while the stars “remained like stick insects.”

Joining the Loose Women panellist on Monday’s show, she spoke about her long career in showbiz and the role that started it.

Joan began: ‘We weren’t allowed to eat anything between meals. They had all these buns and sweets that the whole crew would eat, they put two stones in. But they told us ‘no no no, carrot stick!’

“If you looked at all of us, we were like stick insects.”

Joan, who was wearing a jacket from her time on the show, added: “This jacket was the only thing I kept from the show because it looks so classic YSL.”

In November last year, she revealed the highly unlikely inspiration for her iconic Dynasty character, Alexis, during a “flirty” interview with Louis Theroux.

Speaking about the show, which told the story of a fictional American dynasty, Joan revealed that one of her biggest fans at the time was none other than former president Donald Trump, now 78, who influenced her portrayal.

‘I said when they asked me about my character Alexis, who I thought of when preparing, I said ‘well a mix of Donald Trump’, who was not President then, he was just a businessman,’

“And a friend of mine who was a very glamorous city woman and very intelligent, so I wanted to have a mix of them.”

Louis then asked what specific Trump qualities she brought to the character with the actress pin noting her “cruelty.”

But Dame Joan refused to get involved in a discussion about politics saying: “I’m trying not to get involved politically.” I’m an actress, so I don’t think we should express our political opinions.

Just to joke: “Well, let’s say if you played him in a movie, people would say, ‘No, that’s too exaggerated.'”

Elsewhere in the episode, Joan spoke candidly about her own experiences as a young actress in Hollywood.

Despite being best known for the ’80s soap opera, she also appeared in films in the ’50s and ’60s alongside Hollywood superstars such as Jayne Mansfield and Paul Newman.

And she revealed that she was told “not to be glamorous to get roles.”

Louis asked her: ‘Don’t you feel completely appreciated?’

Joan replied: ‘I’m not saying they don’t appreciate me. I think I’ve become more, but there’s a kind of resentment, ‘yeah, she’s fantastic, but she can’t act, she can only play these roles’ and the first reviews were just talking about my looks.

“The way I moved my hips or the way I made googly eyes at the protagonist, they were always kind of sarcastic.”

Louise asked: ‘Do you mind?’, Joan replied bluntly: ‘No. You mention it, I don’t care.’
