Dame Helen, who was in Rome on Friday for the premiere of the latest Fast & Furious film, said: “I only recently discovered headbands.
“I was always worried they would look a bit Sloane Ranger so they had some resistance, but now I think they add a lot to an outfit.”

Later that day, she was spotted on the balcony of her hotel in France.
The iconic screen star kept things casual in an understated outfit as she snapped photos of the view in front of her.
Dame Helen was seen at the five-star Hotel Martinez wearing a white t-shirt, smart black trousers and a simple pair of trainers.
The Queen star wore her platinum hair down and accessorized with a chic silver link watch on her wrist.
With her mobile phone in hand, Dame Helen held the flip case open and focused on capturing the best shots possible.
Other Fast X stars including Charlize Theron, Alan Ritchman, John Cena and Tyrese Gibson were also seen leaving the hotel.
Vin Diesel, plays the role of Dominic Toretto in the cinematic series while Michelle Rodriguez plays Letty Ortiz.
Fast X will also feature former franchise stars Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang and Scott Eastwood.

The tenth episode also features newcomers Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, and Rita Moreno.
Fast X is the first part of a two-part finale to end the series.
The film is directed by Transporter director Louis Leterrier, 49, who replaced Justin Lin, 51, after the F&F franchise veteran left a week into filming due to creative differences.
Vin is also a producer on the sequel in addition to starring in it.
The record-breaking action movies have grossed over $6.6 billion at the box office, with Fast X set to be released on May 19.
Last week, Vin revealed that the eleventh and final Fast and Furious movie will be released in 2025.
This means viewers will likely be faced with a cliffhanger – and won’t know what happens for two years.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday, he said: “This summer is just the beginning of Fast X.

Paul died in November 2013 aged 40 from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle collision while a passenger in a high-speed car.
He had not yet finished filming the 2015 film Furious 7 at the time of his death, and his brothers Cody and Caleb were used as stand-ins to complete the rewritten film.
Fast X hits theaters on May 19.
