Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey was called to civic duty this week and was forced to miss Wednesday’s practice because of it.
Aubrey was listed by the Cowboys as a non-participant in practice because he was called for jury duty in Tarrant County, Texas, to serve on a 12-person jury for a felony assault case, according to the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
The case Aubrey is part of the twelve-member jury revolves around a charge of second-degree strangulation against the defendant. Dallas also reportedly tried to get Aubrey out of his court summons and was denied.
The kickers’ status for the rest of the week’s practices is up in the air and they are expected to return to court in the next two days. The judge in the case also stated that he will work with Aubrey on his football schedule.
However, Aubrey is set to play on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
