It has been revealed that Daisy May Cooper’s latest TV show, Rain Dogs, has been axed after just one series.
Rain Dogs was a joint venture between the BBC and HBO, but hopes of a second season have been dashed after disappointing ratings in the UK and US.
The show starred Daisy as struggling single mother Costello Jones, who works in a strip club, and was written by British-Irish author Cash Carraway.
The eight-part series, which aired in March 2023, was critically acclaimed and has a 93% approval rating on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.

Daisy’s performance earned her a Best Actress nomination at the 2024 Broadcasting Press Guild Awards, while Cash was announced as a BAFTA Breakthrough Talent for creating, writing and producing the show.
But despite the avalanche of positive reviews and praise that insiders have said Sun that the series will not return.
“It’s disappointing for Daisy as Rain Dogs was a good opportunity to make some inroads in the US,” the source said.
“But, unfortunately, it didn’t do very well on either side of the pond. So the producer behind it, Sid Gentle, agreed with Cash that it was time to move on. Some critics praised the script, but in the end he did not uproot any trees.
It is believed that both Daisy and Cash will continue working with the BBC on other projects.
Born in Cirencester, Daisy rose to fame when she created the comedy series This Country with her brother Charlie.
The show follows the daily exploits of best friends Kerry and Kurtan in rural England.
Daisy has plenty to keep her busy as she gave birth to her third child last week. Sharing a video, the star revealed that she had given birth to a baby boy “a little earlier than we expected.”
Daisy’s hit series This Country was partly inspired by her own upbringing and she once again drew on her roots for her role in Rain Dogs.
The series was written by British-Irish author Cash and is based on her experiences as a single mother struggling to escape poverty.
Daisy played single mother Costello, seen just minutes into the first episode being kicked out of her apartment by bailiffs and desperately trying to find a place for her and her ten-year-old daughter, Iris, to live.
Speaking about her role in 2023, Daisy said: ‘I can see a lot of Costello in me. I recognize that feeling when every day is a challenge, when you have no money and you’re just trying to get to the end of the day.’
Benji is Daisy’s first child with her boyfriend Anthony Huggins, who was also seen cradling her little one after the birth.
Outside of work, Daisy has plenty to keep her busy after giving birth to her third child last week.
Sharing a video on Instagram, the This Country star, 37, revealed she had given birth to a baby boy “a little earlier than we expected”.
‘What a bloody week…’ began her publication along with a video of the mother and baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
“You came a little earlier than we expected and gave me the worst post-op constipation. I almost had to call the samaratins, but my god, you’re perfect.”

Anthony, who has two children from a previous relationship, is a DJ on the Bristol night scene and plays in clubs under the moniker ‘Fuse One’.
Daisy, 37, already has two children, daughter Pip, five, and son Jack, three, with ex-husband Will Weston.
