Much of Twisters is set in Oklahoma, and a large majority of production also took place in that US state.

Twisters is the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 film Twister, in which Daisy plays Kate Cooper, a young woman traumatized by a tornado who returns when her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) shows her a new system for mapping storm trajectories.

But the two collide with Tyler Owens (Powell), a flashy storm chaser who risks his life to get up close to tornadoes for lucrative social media content.

In May, a trailer for the film was released that opens with an Oklahoma rodeo with a crowd watching a bull rider followed by a storm siren.

The animals fled with the crowd and a truck trying to get away from the chaos was picked up by the wind and thrown into an electric sign.

“A once-in-a-generation tornado outbreak continues in Oklahoma,” a television meteorologist reported as Kate studied the storm from afar at a federal weather agency.

A supervisor asked Kate for help with tornadoes after admitting he had never seen one like it before.

—No, I’m not chasing you anymore, Kate said.

After being told that her help could save lives, Kate reluctantly agreed to give it a week.

Kate joined NASA and FEMA experts in Oklahoma and was shocked when Tyler Owens, played by Glen, a self-described “tornado man,” arrived.

“If you feel it,” Tyler told his adoring fans. “Go after it!” they replied.

A note at the end said that Universal Pictures is partnering with the American Red Cross to help those affected by disasters.

Twisters is a stand-alone sequel to the 1996 film Twister starring Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Jami Gertz, and Cary Elwes.

The classic film follows two storm chasers on the brink of divorce who are forced to work together to create an advanced weather warning system that targets extremely violent tornadoes.

Since starring in the film, Glen said he hopes Twisters can open the door for more films aimed at the American Midwest.

“Having grown up in and around Texas, I’m aware that there are large parts of America that haven’t gotten enough movies to see,” Glen shared in an interview with The Telegraph.

‘In some ways, New York and Los Angeles make the decisions about what is done, but there is a much bigger audience out there and you have to think about it.’

The Twisters star also noted that filming his 2023 romantic comedy Anyone But You with Sydney Sweeney helped him realize what was missing.

“One of the things I’ve realized recently is that when studios say a genre is dead, all it means is that there’s a huge opportunity, because a market isn’t being met,” Glen continued.

“Apparently the industry stopped making romantic comedies because they didn’t make money in theaters. But I don’t think there’s a problem facing Hollywood that can’t be solved with a really good movie.”

The Scream Queens alum is hopeful that he can serve the areas (like the “big part” he comes from) with more films like the ones they want.

In fact, Glen has decided to return to his home state of Texas to finish his college degree and be closer to his family.

In May, he said The Hollywood Reporter who is reaping the benefits of “having gotten to this point in Hollywood is that I can now leave Hollywood. It’s like I’ve earned the ability to go back to my family.”

Speaking about Hollywood roles, Glen noted: “I think there are so many that you just want to bring your family as close as possible, or run to them.”

The Top Gun: Maverick actor continued: “I think this is going to be good for my head, my heart and my soul.”

Twisters hits UK cinemas on Wednesday 17th July and US cinemas on Friday 19th July.
